Cricket has a habit of writing its best stories in reverse. Nobody watching the first ball of this series could have guessed how it would end, and that's exactly what made the ending worth watching.

Belgium arrived at Pierre Werner and made their intentions clear straight away. Shweta Sinha batted like she meant business, 63 off a total of 198 for 6, with Fraser and Neighbour among the bowlers trying to slow her down. Luxembourg gave it everything in the chase, Elena Gebhard grinding out 43, Georgia Brealey adding 24, but 199 was always going to be a stretch, and they fell 26 runs short. One match in, and Belgium held all the cards.

What happened next is the part worth telling slowly.

Gebhard and Brealey came out in match two and answered in the only language that matters, runs. An unbeaten 139-run stand carried Luxembourg home by ten wickets under DLS, and just like that, the series had a pulse again. Match three asked a different question, could Luxembourg hold their nerve in a tighter contest, and the answer came from Jagrati Dubey, whose unbeaten 33 supported by Penelope Neighbour's 33 steered the chase home by four wickets. Suddenly it wasn't Belgium's series to lose. It was Luxembourg's to win.

And win it they did, in style that nobody watching will forget. Gebhard, fresh off her 43 and her role in that 139-run stand, walked out again in match four alongside Pooja Agrawal, and the two of them simply refused to be parted. Twenty overs. No wickets lost. 194 runs between them, Gebhard unbeaten on 75, Agrawal unbeaten on 65. Belgium had no answer to a total that size from a pair that composed, and were bowled out for 147 for 8, with captain Aarti Priya and Penelope Neighbour again among the wickets. Forty-seven runs was the final margin. Three matches to one was the final scoreline. A team that had been written off after game one had won three straight to close it out.

None of it happens without the full squad pulling their weight. Kerry Fraser and Penelope Neighbour led the bowling efforts across the series, Georgia Brealey's form at the top of the order set up more than one of these wins, and Aarti Priya and Jagrati took the wickets that swung the closing matches. The ground fielding stayed sharp under pressure throughout, and when you look back at the four days, there wasn't a single player who took the field who didn't leave something out there.

Thanks to the Belgian Cricket Federation and the Belgium Women's team for pushing this series all the way, and to Tournament Referee Adriaan van der Dries, who travelled from the Netherlands to see it through.

🇱🇺 A RECORD-BREAKING WEEKEND FOR LUXEMBOURG WOMEN’S CRICKET 🏏

History has been made at the Pierre Werner Cricket Ground.

In the final match of the ICC Women’s T20I Bilateral Series against Belgium, Elena Gebhard and Pooja Agrawal put together an unbeaten 194-run opening partnership, taking Luxembourg into the record books.

That partnership is now:

• 6th-highest opening partnership in Women’s T20I history
• 3rd-highest unbeaten opening partnership ever recorded in Women’s T20Is
• Highest partnership for any wicket in Luxembourg Women’s T20I history

And the individual records followed.

Elena Gebhard – 75* became the highest individual score ever recorded by a Luxembourg woman in T20Is.

Pooja Agrawal – 65* now sits second on that list.

But records were only part of the story. Across four matches, this squad showed resilience, belief and a real hunger to compete. And they finished the series with a 3–1 victory over Belgium.

A special congratulations to Elena and Pooja for an unforgettable partnership, and a huge thank you to every player and member of the support team who played their part in making this weekend one to remember.
