Gloknoco - Global Sport for Development and Peace Knowledge Collaborative

🎓Sociology of sport? 🇪🇺Europe? 🌍Whole world? 🇫🇮Jyväskylä!

We're glad we could participate in a joint conference of the World and European sociology of sport associations in , Finland. We presented outcomes of our continuous cooperation with 🇨🇿 , and its Fair Play Football League in Czech Republic. Specifically, we observed the programme's potential for social cohesion in the community. We are thankful that our colleagues invite us to their events and help us develop further scholarship in the area of sport for development.

The last few days meant a lot of inspiring contacts, discussions, listening to presentations and spending time with great people from the community of sociology of sport.

🗣️Another field trip to sport-and-development related organisations finished ‼️

During the last two days, our international group of students from the EUSportDev project visited a number of organisations in Prague, Czechia, who use the potential of sport for social change.🌏

Our hosts were:
🇺🇳UN Prague office,
⏮️drop-in Reset centre with a workshop with games supporting the personal and social development organised by our colleagues,
🏬
and
🥊a boxing club, .

Such an enriching mix of various perspectives of the use of sport and movement activities for personal, cultural and social development nicely concluded the semester at the Palacky University in Olomouc. Our module, supported by Erasmus 🇪🇺, introduces students to the EU perspective of the conception of sports used for non-sporting goals, from the theoretical background, basic EU documents, to the practical examples of activities for people with handicaps or from disadvantaged backgrounds.

🌍Another two practical workshops, introducing sports and movement activities as a tool for social inclusion and personal development, in April 2026.

🏐👟Our international students in study modules at Palacky University Olomouc ( ) attended a boccia and Football3 workshop, after a series of theoretical lectures presenting various features of Sport and development.

👥They tried an adapted sports activity for physically disabled persons and a specific football activity, designed for informal learning, learning of communication skills and group activities.

Big thanks to our colleagues from 🇨🇿 , Šarlota, Sabina and Vláďa. Also thanks to for inviting us to the event under the International Teaching Week🎓.

📣Professional requirements in the field.

A first meeting of an 🇪🇺 project, Skills4Change, took place in Malta. Over the next two years, the partners will gather information from the SfD sector stakeholders on the requirements for the qualification and professional skills of the SfD staff and will come up with a set of online educational modules🌐. Also, a series of pre-tests and evaluation focus groups will be run to ensure the practical relevance of the project deliverables.

The project outcomes will further support the professionalisation of the S4D field and the credibility and significance of its organisations.

New tool for practitioners.

During the last year, we have collaborated on a project , with Fair Play Point, Trenuj Bycie Dobrym and Második Esély Sportegyesület - MESE 2.0 (Second Chance Sport Association).

Conveying Fair Play and reflection methods in sports is part of our intervention and what leads to the impact we want to reach out of the pitch. To help our educators, so-called 'mediators' in our process, we have created a set of handy tools that guides the participants in their self-reflection and eventually self-development. The project 'VAR for Fair Play - Enhancing the experience of Fair Play in Football' was funded by

Sport for social change - a new international study programme?
A meeting in Cologne, at (German Sport University). Together with colleagues from universities from Ireland, Sweden, Brazil and Croatia, we discovered potentials of a new programme - COSMOS (Community Sport and Movement for Social Transformation).

The preparation is funded by Design Measures structure. Let's hope for the best.
