A shot of a bearded Fireworm at Cynthiana Beach Dive Site during a recent night dive. Although it looks cute and fluffy, those stinging white bristles deliver a painful neurotoxin to any divers who make contact with it.

If you do happen to get stung you will experience an intense burning sensation, which can be accompanied by dizziness and nausea. So end the dive and administer first aid. First by removing the bristles with something like duck tape then by applying vinegar to neutralise the neurotoxin.

A nice shot of a Bandtooth Conger from Timi Beach Dive Site during a recent night dive.

It inhabits reefs and littoral shelves, and burrows into sand and mud. It can reach up to 35cm but is most commonly around 25cm long (the size of this one in the picture).

PADI AWARE Week 2024 Special Video
"Ohh you stupid Grouper!" - Groupers on the Zenobia Wreck fight over a piece of tin foil before one eats it. Luckily the Grouper spits out the marine debris and our Dive Instructor picks it up before it is attempt to be re-eaten. Please dispose of your rubbish safely.

And yes I am 100% shouting "Grouper" before anyone tells me otherwise 🀣
