Great day being invited to speak with and train the coaches and boxers of 4 SCOTS (The Highlanders). 🥊
Their new boxing gym is quality — they've done a fantastic job with it.
A real pleasure to spend the day sharing some knowledge and working with everyone. Thanks for having us. 🥊🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Great week of training in the gym with Roddy and Alfie, two top-quality young fighters with great futures ahead of them. We covered pretty much everything this week, from different forms of recovery and recovery sessions to footwork, partner drills, setting traps, ring craft and plenty more. Alfie went back to spar with the England team, while Roddy returns to Buckinghamshire to carry on the good work at his home gym. Great having you both over, lads — well done and keep up the hard work. 🥊👊

Good luck to Brad Axe , fighting tonight in Dublin on the Zuffa show!

When Brad called me to say he'd been offered the fight, I was a little sceptical about Zuffa, but they have been brilliant. Good purses, great bonuses — including a Fight of the Night bonus — and the treatment and hospitality have been amazing. They couldn't do enough for the fighters and their teams, and it's great to see.

Also on the undercard is another of my old boxers, Daniel Buciuc

It was great to have Martin back in the gym today working with the boxers. We went through ring craft, ring IQ, educated pressure, and lots of the little tweaks we use in the professional game.
It was a fantastic boxing clinic, and it was great to have a fighter of Martin's calibre passing on his experience and knowledge to the next generation.
Success breeds success.

Happy 17th Birthday to Alfie! 🎉

I wanted him to take the day off and spend it down Cabana cutting shapes on the dance floor with a Fruit Shoot in his hand, but he insisted on training. So we kept it light today... business as normal tomorrow. 🥊

It's a pleasure having over to train with us this week from Buckingham Boxing Club, England. As stablemate, it's great to have him here. Already with a national title to his name, he's looking to add another. At just 15 years old, he's a huge talent with an exciting future in boxing.

I had a good catch-up with Martin today. Pure boxing talk, discussing the tactics and traps he used during his career, including in his fight against Golovkin. It would've made a great podcast. Martin Murray literally shared the ring with all the best in his division, top bloke!

Heart Rate Recovery Circuit 🥊❤️
Today's session wasn't about seeing who could push the hardest. It was about teaching the body to work efficiently, recover quickly, and be ready to perform again.
Our 49-year-old client completed 16 x 2-minute rounds with 1-minute recovery periods, moving through boxing-specific conditioning including pads, tyre flips, bike sprints, kettlebell swings, box jumps, slam balls and bodyweight exercises.
In a two-minute round, it often takes most of the round to reach the red zone. The objective isn't to stay there for as long as possible. We simply want to expose the athlete to around 20–30 seconds of genuine high-intensity work before the bell, then immediately measure how quickly they can recover during the one-minute break.
This is important because a boxer only gets one minute in the corner. If they can bring their heart rate back down into the lower zones before the next bell, they begin the next round feeling composed, breathing under control and ready to perform. If they can't recover, they start the next round feeling exactly how they finished the last one—fatigued, breathing hard and already chasing the fight.
Recovery is one of the biggest indicators of conditioning. A fighter who recovers quickly can think more clearly, maintain a higher work rate, make better decisions under pressure and repeat that performance round after round.
Every recovery was timed. Every round had a purpose. Every result gives us data that allows us to improve the next session.
