It is with immense sadness that I learned of the passing—following a long illness—of Marc Jacolin, my footballtennis partner from the very beginning.
He supported and advised me—alongside Géraldine, his wife at the time—right from the start of our national journey during the creation of the French FootballTennis League.
Together on the French national team 🇨🇵, we wrote our names in gold letters at the inaugural *Copa Ouest-France* finals in La Baule (see photo) after winning the Les Sables-d'Olonne leg, alongside our whole gang of friends: Michel Dinot, Joël Pujol, Olivier Renaud, "Joe l'Indien," and many others...
Naturally kind and incredibly generous, he won the admiration of the Bretons in general—and the En Avant Guingamp club (then in the First Division) in particular—during the first two editions of the 24-hour footballtennis marathon organized by our friend Dominique Mignot for the Telethon.
Always by my side, playing with an elegance and an effortless grace that were truly astonishing, he was crowned "Prince of Orange" several times. We also claimed victories in places like Preignan (Gers) at Thierry Firmino’s club and in Villenave-d'Ornon (Nouvelle-Aquitaine)—where Marco was actually one of the first to win a national title with Denis Parreau’s footballtennis club...
He often spoke to me about the footballtennis camps organized by coach Tchabass Frederico Tavares in Brașov—in the Carpathians and Transylvania—as well as Vlad the Impaler (better known as Dracula) and the tour in Romania. That was his greatest international memory with Pascal Lagrave !
So many wonderful memories shared together.
Marc Jacolin was a pioneer in the revival of French footballtennis
I will never forget him; as they say in the South, "forever the first"—and for me, that means: "Marco, forever the first."
To his entire family, his children, and everyone who knew and spent time with him, I offer my deepest condolences. May he finally rest in peace 🕯️🙏🙏🙏
