At Limassol Lizards Running Team, we welcome children aged 7+ through three progressive training groups designed to help every athlete reach their full potential.
Our Foundation Group (Under 12) introduces young athletes to all track and field events, developing fundamental movement skills, confidence, coordination, and a love for athletics.
As athletes progress, they move into our specialised groups, where we focus on 400m and longer distance events, with the goal of developing the next generation of Cyprus' middle and long-distance runners.
Being part of Limassol Lizards is about much more than training. Our athletes can benefit from:
• Opportunities to earn sports scholarships in the USA.
• Benefits through athletics for military service and university entrance, according to the relevant regulations and performance criteria.
• Opportunities to travel abroad for competitions and participate in Erasmus programmes.
• Family events, club activities, seminars, training camps, and social gatherings throughout the year.
• A positive environment where children build strong friendships with other motivated young athletes who share the same values and goals.
• The opportunity to join the Lanitio Athletics School for talented athletes who meet the required performance standards.

🇨🇿 What an amazing Erasmus+ experience!

The Limassol Lizards travelled to the Czech Republic with six of our athletes for 8 unforgettable days filled with activities, challenges, laughter and new friendships. 🦎💛

It was much more than just a trip — a chance for our athletes to experience new cultures, meet young people from different countries, work together and create memories that will stay with them for years.

We came home with new experiences, new friendships and plenty of great stories to tell!

A huge thank you to everyone who organised and took part in this fantastic Erasmus+ programme. 🇪🇺

Another amazing week full of sports, games, adventures, laughter, and unforgettable memories! Every day brought new challenges, new friendships, and plenty of smiles as our campers stayed active and had fun together.

We can't believe there's only one week left! Let's make the final week the best one yet and finish this summer with even more energy, excitement, and memories that will last a lifetime.

As another season comes to an end, we look back with gratitude, pride, and plenty of great memories.

Like every season, this one had its ups and downs. We celebrated victories, learned from challenges, supported one another, and continued to grow—not only as athletes but as a team and a community.

We are incredibly proud of what our athletes have achieved, both on and off the track. Today, we have three Limassol Lizards athletes studying in the USA, having earned opportunities through their dedication and sporting achievements. It has been a privilege to be part of their journey, and we wish them every success as they continue chasing their dreams.

We also congratulate our athletes who used their sporting achievements to earn additional marks for university admissions, helping them secure places at their first-choice universities across Europe. Your hard work, commitment, and perseverance have truly paid off.

A heartfelt thank you to our volunteers, board members, coaches, sponsors, parents, and everyone who gave their time, energy, ideas, and support throughout the season. Our club is built on the dedication of so many people, and we are grateful for every contribution.

To every Limassol Lizard—thank you for your effort, your passion, and your team spirit. Enjoy a well-deserved summer break, make wonderful memories, and come back refreshed and ready for another exciting season.

Today was a special day out with the Limassol Lizards family. Our older athletes, together with some of their families, came together to celebrate Elijah's final days in Cyprus and give him one more chance to enjoy our beautiful island before he begins his next chapter.

Elijah in started training about five years ago. Within just a few months, it was clear he had something special. He won the Cyprus National Championship in the 600m with an outstanding performance, finishing just 1.5 seconds away from the national record.

Over the following years, Elijah consistently fought at the top of the rankings, earning first and second places through the Under-18 and Under-20 age groups. This season, he achieved a major milestone by becoming the Men's National Champion in the 800m and with a personal best of 1:51 for the season, putting himself in a fantastic position for future opportunities with the national team.

We are incredibly proud that Elijah has earned a scholarship to a Division I university in the United States, where he will continue both his academic journey and his athletics career.

On behalf of the coaches, teammates, and everyone at Limassol Lizards, we wish you the very best. Keep chasing your dreams, keep breaking personal bests, and enjoy every moment of this exciting new adventure.

LIMASSOL LIZARDS – CYPRUS U18 CHAMPIONSHIPS REVIEW

This weekend, 13–14 June, our athletes competed at the Cyprus U18 Championships, and we are very pleased with the overall results. We saw personal bests, podium finishes, valuable experience gained, and some athletes returning to competition in great form.

A special mention goes to our senior athletes who also competed in additional races:

Antonis Diamantakis won the 400m and achieved a new personal best.

Elijah Gould ran and won with a personal best of 1:51 in the 800m.

U18 Championship Highlights

Bernantet Skordi – 3rd place in the 400m and 2nd place in the 800m.

Christina Cooke – 2nd place in the 1500m and 3rd place in the 3000m.

Masha Zotova (only 12 years old) – 4th place in both the 1500m and 3000m, competing against much older athletes.

Giorgos Amiras – 3rd place in the Steeplechase and 6th place in the 3000m.

Marinos Makris – competed in the 400m and the 4x400m relay team, which finished 3rd.

Ioannis Tooulas – 4th place in the 800m and achieved a PB in the 400m.

Chrysa Tooula – 4th place in the Steeplechase.

Elenios Makris (only 12 years old) – 5th place in the 2000m Steeplechase, competing against older athletes.

Tony Yang – in his first year of track and field, finished 7th in the 3000m.

William Palmer – only 12 years old, completed his first track 3000m race, gaining valuable competition experience.

Overall, we are very happy with the performances. Several athletes achieved personal bests, many gained important championship experience, and the team represented the Limassol Lizards with pride and determination.

For most of our athletes, the season has now come to an end. We have one final competition remaining in two weeks' time, when our senior men and women return to the track.

Congratulations to all athletes for their hard work throughout the season, and thank you to the parents and supporters who continue to support the team every step of the way.

The Under-20 Championships were held last weekend, and we came away with a few podium finishes.

Elijah finished 3rd in the 400m and 1st in the 800m. Dimitris took 2nd place in the steeplechase, and Christina finished 3rd in the 1500m.

We also had success in the 4x400m relays. Elijah was part of the boys' team that won 1st place, while Christina and Berna were part of the girls' team that finished 3rd.

It wasn't our strongest competition overall. We had athletes dealing with illness, it's exam period, and for some of our younger athletes it was a valuable learning experience. There were performances that could have been better, but that's part of sport. It's done now, and our focus shifts to what's next.

The important thing is that every competition provides experience. We will sit down, reassess, learn from our mistakes, and use those lessons to improve for the next challenge.
Well done to everyone who took part. The goal is not only to achieve results but also to learn how to be competitive, stay consistent, set goals, and handle both success and disappointment. Sport teaches us many of the same lessons that life does—there are highs and lows, victories and setbacks.

So let's keep learning, keep improving, and most importantly, let's keep running.
