โThis is the time to be slow,
Lie low to the wall
Until the bitter weather passes.
Try, as best you can, not to let
The wire brush of doubt
Scrape from your heart
All sense of yourself
And your hesitant light.
If you remain generous,
Time will come good;
And you will find your feet
Again on fresh pastures of promise,
Where the air will be kind
And blushed with beginning.โ

No matter the circumstances, and how difficult the mastery of self-regulation can be, we must remain the only architect of our inner landscape.
Thatโs why I practice yoga.

The more I practice and teach yoga, along with long lasting explorations of health and illness, the more confident I am that skilful yoga practice is the best preventative medicine and a very fine therapeutic practice too.
Join us if you donโt practice yoga already, or you wish to return to the practice. Just as the garden on this photo we are a diverse and welcoming bunch of beautiful yoga practitioners.
Please check the timetable at www.yogawithmairi.com or at the link in bio.
We are now offering seasonal tickets for the Winter 2024, please get in touch if interested.

This is such a lovely poem to explain Autism. ๐
๐
Autism is:
Unable to speak, or maybe speaking too much
Hugging everyone, or disliking touch
Escaping outside,
Or trying to hide
Excitedly flapping
Inappropriate clapping
Autism varies so much
Won't wear a coat, or wears one all year round
Fussy eater, or would eat dirt from the ground
Screaming or humming
Annoyingly drumming
Toys in a line
The same way every time
Autism varies so much
Struggling to learn, or has wonderful gifts
Obsessions of numbers, trains, films or lifts
Spinning around
Throws things on the ground
Constantly spitting
Aggressively hitting
Autism varies so much
Alone without friends, or controls every game
Always looks different, always dresses the same
Swinging on doors
Head banging on floors
Freaks at the dryer
Keeps climbing higher
Autism varies so much.
Can't answer questions, won't do as they're told
In their own world or bossy and bold
Over prepared
Anxious and scared
A spectrum so wide
But they all bring us pride
When autism touches our lives.
I support autism awareness...

Grey hair is liberating. Not a bad thought for the last day of Summer? ๐ง๐ผโจ
In our yoga classes we absolutely root against ageism. When we practice, there is no age. There are different abilities to which we need to attend and to adjust the practice but age doesnโt tell much about those abilities. Thatโs why we donโt have age based groups, and thatโs how it is for over five years now. We had young ladies attending classes to achieve their Duke of Edinburgh awards, practising together with their mums, but in the same class you could find their 80+ old sisters. We had blokes in their 20s and those in 50s, 60s, 70s and 80s discovering yoga and finally getting sporty, of getting sporty again.
Yoga is ageless practice for ageless people. Thatโs our motto.
Join us if you are one of them ๐ค๐๐ผ

How about this: Luxury is a necessity, and it doesnโt have to be expensive?
A thought that came to me today, as I was using a couple of hours I had for myself, to keep recharging after a super challenging year.
Time for ourself feels like a luxury in some situations, but itโs actually the most essential need. The same can be said for yoga practice too. The most affordable luxury we can give to ourselves โจ๐๐ผโจ
Join us! We practice in small groups, another form of luxury ๐๐๐ผ Individual instruction before joining the classes is possible too.

A tree doesnโt grow overnight. Have you ever thought of patience as fortifying?
One of the characteristics we develop while practicing yoga.
Patience ๐๐ผ
