Are Carbon Spokes Stronger Than Steel? Brutal Lab Test Results Revealed!

The Truth About Carbon Spoke Strength: ICANPI 40C/50C/55C Lab Destructive Test

In this video, we conduct a brutal tensile (pull) test on the carbon spokes used in our premium ICANPI 40C, 50C, and 55C full carbon wheelset series. For elite riders, a wheelset's lateral stiffness and power transfer rely entirely on spoke tension and structural integrity.

Here is the exact data breakdown from our lab test machine shown in the video:

Peak Force: 375.4 kgf. This is the maximum load the single carbon spoke withstood before failure. To put this in perspective, high-end steel aero spokes typically fail around 300-320 kgf. This incredible 375+ kgf peak means massive safety margins and the ability to run extremely high spoke tension.

Current Force at Snapshot: 293.2 kgf. The spoke remains completely structurally sound well beyond normal riding limits.

Displacement/Deformation: ~18.8 mm. This shows the spoke's elasticity under extreme loads. Despite being incredibly stiff laterally, the carbon fiber layup allows for necessary elongation to absorb harsh impacts without instantly snapping.

Test Speed: 10.000 mm/min. A controlled, steady pull to simulate extreme, sustained loads.
