LATE POST | A DELAY THAT COULD SAVE A LIFE

Last August 27, the first batch of Manila Klasiko traveled from Manila to Taipei aboard Cebu Pacific. Our original flight was scheduled from 11:45 PM to 2:00 AM.

During the flight, a passenger needed urgent medical attention. Without hesitation, our very own Doc Igme Ubaldoimmediately stepped in and provided first aid alongside the Cebu Pacific cabin crew.

He was supposed to be a paddler traveling to represent our team—but at that moment, he was a doctor first.

After assessing the passenger’s condition, Doc Igme recommended landing at the nearest airport so the patient could receive proper medical care. The pilot responded immediately and made an emergency landing at Clark International Airport at 1:36 AM, where the passenger disembarked for further medical attention.

Our flight may have been delayed, but when someone’s life and safety are at risk, every minute is worth it.

A huge salute to Doc Igme for answering the call of duty—even at 30,000 feet! Your Manila Klasiko family is incredibly proud of you. 🐉🇵🇭

We also commend the Cebu Pacific Air pilots and cabin crew for their calm, professional, and immediate response to the emergency.

Sometimes, being part of a team goes beyond paddling together—it means stepping up when someone needs you most.

Supposed to be a paddler, but a doctor in action first!

Top teams of the Philippine Dragon Boat Federation are given opportunity to compete in what many call as the "Olympics of Dragon Boat," the Club Crew World Championships of the International Dragon Boat Federation (IDBF). The 15th CCWC will be held on September 1 to 6, 2026 in Hualien, Taiwan.

We wish you all the success in the biggest dragon boat race of your life, with more than 5,000 competitors and about a week of dragon boat paddling, this is an experience you will never get outside IDBF and PDBF.
