While most of the city is still asleep, a football flies across a beach in Xiamen.
No stadium. No crowds. No lights.
Just teammates, the sound of the ocean, and a shared passion for Australian Rules Football.
Moments like these remind us that footy isn't just played in Australia. It's growing across Asia, one kick, one mark, and one training session at a time.
This is what AFL China is all about.

The inaugural South China Cup Invitational is done and dusted, and what a day it was in Shenzhen.
Three quality matches, plenty of goals and another fantastic opportunity to showcase Australian Rules Football in China alongside our friends from Hong Kong and Singapore.
Congratulations to the Hong Kong Dragons and Singapore Wombats on some outstanding football throughout the day, and thank you to everyone who travelled to make the tournament possible.
There were some great individual performances as well. Riley put on a clinic in front of goal with five majors against the China Reds, while Angelo proved once again that class never goes out of style. Singapore's Branchy and Brooksey both filled their boots across the day, showing why they're among the best forwards in the region.
For the China Reds, JB battled hard to kick two goals, while Chen celebrated a special moment with his first senior goal in China colours. Every player who pulled on the red guernsey represented the jumper with pride and helped continue building something bigger than one tournament.
A huge thank you to the volunteers, umpires, supporters and everyone behind the scenes. This is another important step forward for AFL China, and we're already looking forward to making the South China Cup even bigger next year.

Earlier this week, Australia Rules Football was introduced to students at Xiamen Institute of Technology through a collaborative campus exchange event organised by the Australia Chapter of the Xiamen Overseas-Educated Scholars Association, together with Xiamen Institute of Technology and supported by the
Students participated in a hands-on introduction to AFL, learning the fundamentals of kicking, handballing, movement, and team-based drills under the guidance of experienced coaches. The session provided a unique opportunity for students to experience one of Australia's most exciting sports while gaining exposure to international sporting culture.
The energy, enthusiasm, and engagement shown by the students throughout the evening were fantastic, with many expressing a strong interest in learning more about the game and participating again in the future.
A big thank you to all organisers, coaches, and students involved in making the event a success. We look forward to continuing to grow Australian Rules Football across Xiamen and creating more opportunities for young people to connect through sport.
