Kia Orana from the beautiful Island of Aitutaki,
Well, as the saying goes “all good things must come to an end” and thus so does Motu2Motu Aitutaki.
One of the hardest decisions we have ever had to make, and to many, this will have come as a big and not so happy surprise. We feel the sadness in having to do so, but the decision to no longer run Motu2Motu has indeed been made.
Poppy and I have had 14 years with this amazing event, that began with a lunchtime paddle to Maina Island with the local clubs.
And well a few drinks later the idea of Motu2Motu was born.
From there it has grown and developed into one of the most iconic paddling events on our blue planet.
We have had the opportunity to meet some amazing people over the years whom have come to our little island to ‘race’ but ended up experiencing an incredible destination, and rediscovering why we all took up this amazing sport in the first place, and to fall in love with paddling all over again.
The privilege Aitutaki has had to welcome paddlers from all over the world has been nothing short of wonderful. Many locals and international paddlers have made long lasting relationships forged over the years that we know will continue for many years to come
Aitutaki will always be here for you, to come back, and visit and we will all be so happy to see you once again.
A huge thank you to all of our M2M family from Canada, Australia, Hawaii, New Zealand, UK, Singapore, China, USA, France and of course The Cook Islands, whom have all been a part of this amazing event and more so a part of our island family.
To the people of Aitutaki. Meitaki Atupaka e Aroa Nui for your support over the years, for welcoming our paddlers into your homes, accommodations, restaurants and businesses, having them leave our shores as family and friends forever.
To our M2M ‘Crew’ over the years on and off the water, “too good!”
We thank you all from the bottom of our hearts.
It is now time for Poppy and I to focus on us, once more, hopefully having more time to travel, to see all of you, be it in a seat on your own waters, or over a couple cold ones, carrying on the wonderful friendships made over the past 14 years.
“Ladies and Gentlemen, Motu2Motu is leaving the building” and for the last time on this truly incredible stage.....
“Segal Out!”
