Southern Salamanders squad for Men’s Finals

After missing out on the final last year, the Southern Salamanders have spent the year developing and building towards a team full of ambitions. Like the Central Women, they’ve backed a smaller squad to get the job done.

Instead of training with Central and Northern, the Salamanders opted for monthly 4v4 tournaments within the Romandie region. These successful events were key in the development of habits and building chemistry, and Saturday will reveal whether that was the right option.

Missing out on collective trainings and getting used to playing other regions may cost them, but on the other side Northern and Central will be coming into the finals without knowing much about their opponent, and that secrecy may end up being decisive for the Salamanders.

Southern Salamanders squad for Women’s Finals

After last year’s disappointing third place, women’s touch in the Southern region has experienced a lot of growth, and these finals will be a great way for the Salamanders to test themselves.

Under Marion’s coaching the Salamanders have continually progressed and developed into a promising team, and 4v4 tournaments have taught them to play at fast pace and under pressure. Led by a couple of experienced players with international caps under their belt, this team could become a serious threat as underdogs this weekend.

The bookmakers don’t seem to have them winning it all just yet, but what’s for sure is that over the next couple of years this generation of players will sooner or later turn into favourites.

Northern Narwhals squad for Men’s Finals

With last year’s drop off heartbreak still raw, the Northern Men will do whatever it takes to clinch their first title.

Along with their female counterparts, they’re the most unchanged team, and that unity and complicity will surely be an advantage compared to the other teams.

Known for their ice cold composure, the Narwhals are hungrier than ever - will this be their year?

Northern Narwhals squad for Women’s finals

After a bitter loss in the final last year, the Northern Women have put in the work over the past year to make sure that doesn’t happen again.

With one of the least changed squads in the competition, they’ve backed last year’s players and the chemistry of that team to go all the way, whilst still having made some key recruits.

Their deep squad and mix of youth and experience will prove crucial if they don’t want a repeat of last year.

Central Wolves squad for the Men’s Finals

After last year’s exhilarating final which saw the Wolves’ captain Nils Buri sin binned before ultimately scoring the winning try in a 3 on 3 drop off, the Wolves look to go back to back and defend their title.

Despite having the largest squad out of any team, only 4 players from last year’s championship winning team are back, but this team shouldn’t be feared any less.

Only time will tell if such a large squad proves to be a winning move in Saturday’s blazing heat.

After a very successful day last year, the second edition of W&M’s touch Finals is set to return to Bern this Saturday.

It’s safe to say that since last year, every region has gotten stronger, and with over 50% of players representing their region for the first time, these finals will be a testament to the growth of touch rugby in Switzerland over the past year.

The dramatic drop off finish in the Men’s final last year is still fresh in our minds, and undoubtedly in the northern men’s too. After being crowned double champions last year, will the Central Wolves go back to back, will the Northern Narwhals get their revenge, or will the Southern Salémanders beat the odds to claim a title? Come down to Bern on Saturday morning to watch the 80 players selected to represent their region battle it out amidst the intense heat to bring the championship home😤🏆
