Edie Nightcrawler's solo performances are glamorous yet weird. A choreographer by trade, she enjoys creating a theatrical spectacle that is body-centric, surprising, and sprinkled with stupid humor. With influences as varied as Tango, 80's music videos, Fellini, and Benny Hill, Edie has performed extensively in New York city nightlife. As a contemporary dancer Edie has worked with luminaries of both the experimental dance scene and many generations of drag performance in New York, Las Vegas and abroad.

Give yourself a day of experimentation!

Using every “trick” we can come up with - from reveals and props to character and ready-made movement assignments, we will search for personal style instead of a generic starting point. What is your special sauce? How can you surprise yourself and still reveal what matters about you?

**students should bring any costumes or props they are interested in experimenting with -- including weird but appealing items from the back of your closet. We will also have some on hand to explore.

For everyone, not only people with solos.

The melt is an internal experience first, and an external movement second. But interestingly, the opposite is true as well. 🤔

The way we move influences the way we think. Every movement carries a mindset – and by changing the movement, we can gradually change the story we tell ourselves. It all starts with self-awareness and a willingness to train the body as much as the mind.

This mind-body connection is one of the core ideas I explore in my new online course, “Feminine & Powerful”, starting July 1st. It’s not just about becoming a stronger burlesque performer, but about discovering how movement can help you become more grounded, confident, and unapologetically yourself.

Burlesque can be better than therapy. But there’s a caveat. 🚨

There is a difference between a private act that helps us process emotions, trauma or hidden parts of ourselves… and a burlesque performance created for a live audience. One can be completely raw, intimate and just for YOU. The other becomes a shared experience the moment you step on stage. 💃🏻🕺🏻

I believe both are valuable. In fact, some of the most healing moments in burlesque happen away from the spotlight. 💔❤️‍🩹 But if we want to become performers, we also need to remember that burlesque is an art form – one that invites the audience into our world instead of asking them to carry our pain for us.
