Football has always been about more than what happens on the field. It is about community, development, education and creating opportunities for the next generation.

During our visit to Washington, Warriors President Pascal Hollenstein and our Head of Coaching & Development Max Gray had the opportunity to meet with representatives of Arlington High School and discuss how we can build a strong connection between our football programs.

For Max, this was also a special return to his roots. Before bringing his experience and football knowledge to Switzerland, he was a student and athlete at Arlington High School. Today, he is helping shape the future of the Warriors and connecting the two football communities that have played an important role in his journey.

We discussed exciting opportunities for the future, including:

📚 Sharing football knowledge
🎓 Learning from each other’s youth and athlete development programs
🇺🇸🇨🇭 Opportunities for coaches and players to experience football in another country
🏫 Exploring potential educational and student exchange opportunities in the future
💪 Joint camps, clinics and development programs
🌎 Creating international connections through sport and education

Some of these ideas are still at an early stage, but the potential is exciting.

Our goal is to give our athletes and coaches access to new experiences, new knowledge and opportunities that go far beyond our own football field.

From Washington to Winterthur, two football communities separated by thousands of kilometres can learn from each other, grow together and create something special.

After almost a decade of football across Switzerland, Germany and the UK, Mike Kimpiabi is coming back to Winterthur. 🏹

A dominant Defensive Tackle, Mike brings size, power, experience and a football résumé that speaks for itself. Since wearing the Warriors colours in 2017, his journey has taken him through some of the biggest programs and leagues in European football.

We’re excited to announce our first signing for the 2027 Season and the return of Joel “Jack” Muntwyler to the Warriors First Team.

Jack’s football journey started right here in Winterthur. After developing through our Juniors and making the step into the First Team, his journey took him beyond Switzerland:

Sieben unserer U19 Spieler werden diesen Herbst für die Zurich State Spartans in der NLC Saison auflaufen und dabei wertvolle Spielpraxis auf Erwachsenenlevel sammeln. Zusätzlich wird auch ein vielversprechender Prospect aus unserem First Team die Spartans verstärken.

Die Zusammenarbeit ist ein wichtiger Teil unseres Development Pathways: Unsere Junioren erhalten bereits vor ihrem Schritt ins First Team echte Spielerfahrung im Erwachsenenfootball und können sich so optimal auf ihre erste NLA Saison 2027 mit den Warriors vorbereiten. 💪

Gleichzeitig wollen wir die Zusammenarbeit zwischen den Winterthur Warriors und den Zurich State Spartans weiter stärken und unsere beiden Vereine noch näher zusammenbringen.

Eine Saison voller Herausforderungen, Fortschritte und wichtiger Meilensteine. ❤️💛

„Wenn ich auf meine erste Saison als Präsident der Winterthur Warriors zurückblicke, überwiegt vor allem eines. Stolz.

Wir haben unser sportliches Ziel mit dem dritten Tabellenrang übertroffen und den Verein in vielen Bereichen weiterentwickelt. Natürlich schmerzt das Ausscheiden im Halbfinale, gleichzeitig zeigt genau das, wie hoch unsere Ansprüche inzwischen wieder sind.

Besonders stolz macht mich, wie positiv die Veränderungen innerhalb und ausserhalb des Vereins wahrgenommen wurden. Neue Sponsoren, die Verpflichtung von Max Gray, ein noch stärkerer Fokus auf unsere Spieler und das Interesse ehemaliger sowie neuer Spieler zeigen, dass wir auf dem richtigen Weg sind.

Jetzt beginnt die eigentliche Arbeit. Zum ersten Mal haben wir ein ganzes Jahr Zeit, unsere Ideen umzusetzen und die Winterthur Warriors nachhaltig weiterzuentwickeln. Wir haben noch viel vor und ich freue mich auf alles, was kommt.

🏈 Die Saison endet im Playoff Halbfinale.

Die Winterthur Warriors unterliegen den Calanda Broncos im Playoff Halbfinale mit 14:34.

Das Endresultat fällt deutlicher aus, als es der Spielverlauf vermuten lässt. Bis zur Halbzeit lieferten sich beide Teams ein ausgeglichenes und intensives Duell. Kurz vor der Pause konnten die Broncos ihre Führung auf 21:14 ausbauen, nachdem die Warriors bis dahin auf Augenhöhe gespielt hatten.

In der zweiten Halbzeit zeigte unsere Defense nochmals eine starke Leistung und hielt den Broncos lange Paroli. Leider fand unsere Offense nicht mehr den Weg in die Endzone, sodass sich die Gäste am Ende durchsetzen konnten.

Auch wenn das Saisonende schmerzt, überwiegt der Stolz. Gemeinsam haben wir in dieser Saison Historisches erreicht und wichtige Grundlagen für die Zukunft geschaffen. Dieser Weg war nie als Sprint gedacht. Er ist ein Marathon. Ein Prozess, der Zeit, Geduld und harte Arbeit verlangt.

Wir werden aus dieser Niederlage lernen, uns intensiv auf die kommende Saison vorbereiten und den eingeschlagenen Weg konsequent weitergehen. Die Veränderungen, die wir in diesem Jahr angestossen haben, werden wir weiter vorantreiben.

Unser Ziel bleibt unverändert: Die Winterthur Warriors Schritt für Schritt zurück an die Spitze des Schweizer American Footballs zu führen.
