When the Faction team returned from Mongolia last year, some images went way past what we’d expect from a ski movie shoot.

These were taken by Matthew Tufts, who joined them and made sure that not a moment was lost.

While the athletes skied incredible yet sketchy lines in the Altai’s glaciated shadows, Matthew found time to tell the story of a culture that’s deeply woven with the origins of skiing.

Freeride is Olympic.

We’ve been part of this crazy corner of skiing for nearly twenty years. This past season, we became official suppliers to the Freeride World Tour by Peak Performance, the team who put in the years of work to get this cinematic sport here in the first place.

More eyes means more kids picking up skis for the first time. That’s the part we’re so, so fired up about.

Meet the Runner-Up for Be The Next X 2.0 💣

Swiss rider Nina Maeder, , 23, showed us a great blend of big-mountain freeride lines and an equal amount of heart, which stuck with us.

To Nina and to all those who entered this second edition of our search for women’s freeskiing talent, we encourage you to keep riding, creating and showing what you do to the world.

The level of talent in this competition was impressive, and we’re stoked to see where each skier heads next.
