I’m a 200-hour alignment-based yoga teacher, pre-and postnatal yoga teacher, and a lifelong student of yoga who’s currently studying towards a 500-hour therapeutic yoga teacher certificate with Yoga Medicine. I’ve studied pre -and postnatal yoga with Birthlight both in Finland and Switzerland and did my 200-hour teacher training with Purna Yoga Helsinki. Yoga came into my life for the first time i

YOGA A PRANZO

Federica Dubbini
Piazza Nosetto 3, Bellinzona

A reminder for those of us who find effort easier than rest. 🤍

One thing I have been very consistent with over the years is creating new strength programmes. Following any one of them for long enough to make progress… well, that was another matter. 🙈

It wasn’t that I didn’t know why I wanted to strength train. I wanted to build full-body strength to support my running, yoga practice and long-term health. What I was missing was a programme I trusted enough to follow consistently.

So, while I was in Helsinki, I finally booked a 1:1 session with a personal trainer/osteopath. After assessing how I move, she created a programme tailored to my body, my goals and the equipment I have at home. We went through all the exercises together, and she even challenged me to use heavier weights than I would have chosen for myself.

I came home knowing which exercises to do, how to do them, which weights to use and how to progress. No more second-guessing everything (or constantly changing half of the programme). Having that clarity has also given strength training a much more defined place alongside my running and yoga.

So now my weeks include strength training at home twice a week—or at least I’m doing my best to make that happen. I think I now have a pretty great combination of running, strength training and yoga. Each offers me something different, and I don’t expect any one of them to provide everything my body needs. I see them as complementary rather than competing practices.

Have you ever had a training programme created specifically for you? And did it change the way you trained?

Very happy to be back teaching yoga after a long summer break!

Private classes resumed this week, and group classes will follow soon.

The Federica Dubbini studio also had a little refresh during the break. Some of the furniture was removed, a few new decorative details were added, and we now have much more space to practise. The studio looks even more beautiful than before, and I’m really looking forward to welcoming everyone back.

This autumn, you can practise with me in:

Thalwil at MALAYOGA | Dina De Paola
Fridays, 9:30–11:00 am (starting 21.08.)

Bellinzona at Federica Dubbini
Wednesdays, 9:00–10:30 am (starting 02.09.)

Private yoga is also available in Thalwil, Bellinzona and online.

Whether you would like to return to a regular yoga practice, receive more individual guidance or work on something specific, you are very welcome to join me.

Send me a message if you would like more information about the classes.

One of countless examples of making a pose work for you instead of forcing yourself to fit the pose.

Urdhva Dhanurasana has never been one of my favourite yoga poses, and it may never be. But difficult poses often show us where our limitations are and give us ideas about what we might want to explore in our practice. If I only practised what already felt easy, I wouldn’t learn nearly as much about my body.

Placing blocks under my hands reduces the mobility demand on my shoulders and gives my chest and upper back more space to move. It allows me to practise the actions of the pose without forcing myself into a shape my body cannot currently make comfortably.

A pose isn’t successful because it looks a certain way. Our proportions, mobility, injury history, and anatomy are all different.

The goal isn’t to make your body fit the pose.

The goal is to make the pose fit your body.
