After Team Relay Gold with our Junior Men Gygax, Fiona Schibler claimed Silver in the U23 Women’s race.

🇪🇺 UEC MTB European Championships - XCO 🇨🇭 Monteceneri, Switzerland The U23 women were the first to inaugurate this final day of racing, with Valentina Corvi also on the start line. Having skipped Thursday's XCC event, she set her sights directly on contending for the XCO title, a title she held entering this season. Joining her was a formidable "Swiss block" featuring all of Switzerland's top talent, ready to disrupt Corvi's championship ambitions! Right from the gun, Corvi took control of the race, building a lead of roughly half a minute over Anina Hutter in virtual second place. However, on the following lap, Hutter closed the gap on Corvi, made her pass, and launched a commanding solo move. Corvi appeared to be in serious difficulty, dropping back to sixth place behind the entire Swiss contingent, Halter, Benoit, Schibler, as well as Marta Cano. It soon became clear that Corvi had suffered a puncture; by the time she was able to change her rear wheel, her chances for victory were gone, and even a podium finish seemed like a steep mountain to climb. As the battle for second place saw Schibler gain ground, the fight for third turned into an ongoing duel between Halter and Benoit, with Corvi mounting a furious chase despite the huge amount of time lost. In the closing stages, Halter faded and was eventually passed by Corvi, while Elina Benoit managed to hold on to the final step on the podium. Switzerland claimed victory once again, with Anina Hutter securing her first U23 European Champion title, adding to the continental title she previously won in the U15 category in Pila!
