During the month of June, the Seibukan Budo International Federation (SBIF) will proceed with the issuance and shipment of certifications, diplomas, and recognitions for students and instructors from our affiliated groups in France, Switzerland, and India.

These certifications represent the dedication, commitment, and hard work demonstrated by practitioners throughout their training in the traditional Japanese Budo disciplines represented within our organization.

SBIF would like to congratulate all candidates who have successfully achieved their goals and express our sincere appreciation to the instructors and national representatives who continue to promote the serious and responsible development of our teachings in their respective countries.

Self-defense of hand to hand combat and tactical preparation are fundamental elements in the work of prison personnel, where self-control, responsiveness, discipline, and operational safety are part of daily duties.

Martial arts training not only provides technical tools for protection and control, but also essential values such as respect, responsibility, stress management, and decision-making under pressure.

We especially recognize the work of Mr. Prassana, representative of Seibukan Budo [SBIF] in Sri Lanka, for his commitment to the development of traditional martial arts and training focused on safety, discipline, and personal growth within different professional environments.

Traditional Budo continues to demonstrate its practical and educational value in real-world contexts where physical and mental preparation make the difference.

Today is a good day to remember Master Minoru Mochizuki, founder of Yoseikan Budo, on the anniversary of his passing.

We are pleased to share one of the most insightful interviews ever conducted with him. In this conversation, Mochizuki Sensei reflects on the evolution of Japanese martial arts, the influence of great masters such as Jigoro Kano and Morihei Ueshiba, and the importance of preserving the true principles of Budo beyond competition and technical practice.

This interview was conducted by Stanley Pranin for Aiki News at the Yoseikan Dojo in Shizuoka on November 22, 1982. It was originally published in Aiki News in 1983 and later republished digitally by Aikido Journal.

Remembering the great masters means preserving the values, knowledge, and experiences that helped shape the Budo we practice today.
