Derek Lunsford expressed frustration with how media and fans often overlook the reigning champion. While people focused on Samson Dauda and Andrew Jacked at the Pittsburgh Pro, Lunsford pointed out that he was the current Mr. Olympia, yet many narratives ignored him.
He explained that it’s common in bodybuilding for attention to shift to who’s “hot” at the moment. “People only care about what’s happening now,” he said. Derek stressed that true champions focus on their own work, not hype or opinions.
Lunsford said that while social media narratives are loud, they don’t change results. His message was clear: being the reigning champion isn’t about being talked about; it’s about showing up prepared and performing when it matters most. "To beat nick you just need size you need conditioning you need symmetry & shape the one thing nick cannot bring the one thing that of all the boxes nick shape is at like 40% while everybody else's can be like higher that's why nick loses and it's going to happen every time as long as someone carries enough mass conditioning a cemetery all is going to happen that's what i believe is going to happen to tampa because i have just enough of everything to be able to beat a freak factor like nick."
