Claire Hauxwell
I'm Claire Hauxwell. I help women who are done settling for "fine" rewrite their lives with clarity, confidence, and zero fluff. Hey. I'm Claire. Hasta pronto!
I'm a wife, a mom and an expat ASS living in Zug, Switzerland. I've lived abroad for 12 years - Geneva, Brussels, Mexico City, Johannesburg and Zug. I am a cynic and extremely sarcastic. I can't help myself. Love me or hate me, it's who I am. I like to swear and tell it how it is. So, don't get offended...I'm not trying to solve world peace here. I love my family and friends fiercely...they are wh

"You don't need to stop, you just need to focus your training differently while you heal."
This is what my physical therapist told me yesterday. I've been struggling with my thumb, wrist and elbow for months... I've been modifying, doing lighter weights, pushing through the pain. It gets better, the pain comes back.
He said give me a few weeks without explosive movements on your arm - i.e. cleans, snatches, pushups. This guy also realizes something else... exercise is how I clear my head, that my gym peeps are a big part of my community, and that Paco loves to go to.
So, I'm not stopping, but I am pivoting so that I can do it again one day (hopefully very soon).
And doesn't Paco look handsome with his haircut?
One day I'm gonna miss this.

Spring cleaning isn't just for closets.
This time of year always feels like the right time to do a little life editing. Not burning the entire barn down kind of life editingโthat's way too dramatic. I'm talking about making the quiet decision to stop carrying things that don't serve me into the next season of my life.
Here are three things I'm leaving behind this spring:
Some things just stop working. You can push harder, plan better, try again and again... and still get nowhere. That's not failure, it's information. This season, I'm paying attention to where life is actually moving forwardโand releasing the rest.
A lot of us are still dragging around expectations we didnโt even create. How we should look, work, parent, age, show up.
Iโm closing that rulebook. If it doesnโt fit the life I actually want right now, itโs out.
Not every decision needs a committee meeting in my head. Sometimes the next step is the path of least resistance. This doesn't mean it will be easy, but it will feel right. So, simplify the routine, say the thing, make the change. Done.
Sometimes the most powerful reset is figuring out what you're no longer willing to carry.

I know I'm not alone. I got in a great workout this morning. I'll shower eventually, but life gets in the way.

I'm bored with being bored.
There's a lot of truth in that, isn't there? Not exhausted. Not unhappy. Just... flat. The days on repeat, and somewhere along the way you stop choosing differently.
Boredom usually isn't a lack of options. It's what happens when life runs on autopilot.
Action creates energy. Not the other way around.
If life feels dull lately, it might just mean you've outgrown your current rhythm.
That's where the edit begins.
If this hits a nerve, start by changing one small thing this week โ or send me a message if you're ready to figure out what needs editing.

It's taken me 48 years to figure out how to get my unruly hair to cooperate.
I used to hate my curls... they never made me feel beautiful. As a teenager I used to have my friends iron my hair (with an actual clothes iron) and Brazilian blowouts as an adult. My wild hair has always made me self-conscious next to women with long lucios locks.
After a bad dye job and a terrible haircut a few years ago, I was forced to embrace my curls in order to coax my fried hair back to health. Now, I rarely use heat on my hair, and when I do, it's just a few mutes of diffusing.
I realized I feel most confident when I embrace who I am versus who I think I should be to impress othersโand you should too.

I've been told that I'm an "Ingredients Mom."
I'm not totally granolaโ there are snacks foods in my house. But, I guess most of the food in my pantry and fridge needs to be prepared. I cook most meals from scratch with a little bit of help from premade stock, but you're not going to find me making my own tortillas, ice cream or sandwich bread.
Maybe it takes a little longer to plan, shop (I'm always forgetting to buy at least one thing), and put together a meal, but I definitely think it's worth itโeven if I'm the only one that likes it.
Anyway, I was making a batch of taco seasoning (because European pre-made taco seasoning tastes like feet), and thought I'd see if I'm the only one that does this.
Here's my no brainer recipe, if you want to give it a try:
2 TBS of each...
- Garlic Powder
- Onion Powder
- Paprika
- Cumin
- Chili Powder
- Flour
- Beef Bouillon

Jet lag is kicking my butt. I forced myself to go to the gym. I braved the frigid cold to walk Paco (he was not a fan of his new shoes). I took down the Christmas decorations. I forgot to eat lunch. I need a nap.
