A HUGE congratulations from the MASRC to the U14 Sagkeeng Ogijidaakwewag Volleyball Team on a massive summer! πŸ†πŸ

This group of athletes from Sagkeeng and surrounding communities showed serious heart both on and off the court.

When the team was short on players and close to missing the 2026 Manitoba Indigenous Summer Games in Norway House, Lyila Courchene stepped up. She talked to Coach Kristy Sharp and personally recruited enough players to make sure the team could compete.

That hustle set off an unbelievable run, ending with back-to-back gold:
πŸ₯‡ Undefeated Champions – Manitoba Indigenous Summer Games
πŸ₯‡ Undefeated Champions – Alberta Indigenous Games

Special thanks to Norbert Fontaine for sharing this story with us.

Please join us in celebrating these champions! πŸ‘βœ¨

The MASRC team started off our Wednesday harvesting sage and sweetgrass for our offices' ceremonial use. Sorry if we missed anyone while we were away this morning! Spending time harvesting traditional medicines has us heading into the rest of the week feeling clear-headed and grounded. 🌿✨
