We are thrilled to welcome back Surfski Bum!

Hailing all the way from Quebec, he’s spent the past year clocking serious miles, traveling, and racing across the US. After putting in the work to recover from an off-season injury, he’s back in the surfski and ready to take on the water with us once again.

He raced with us in 2025 and loved the course, the energy, and this incredible paddling community so much that he couldn't stay away for round two!

Volunteer Opportunity: Event Timing Team! ⏱️📱

We’re looking for 1-2 people to help with event timing during both days of this year's Red River Paddle Challenge.

What we're looking for:

✅ Comfort with technology and using a smartphone

✅ Ability to access and navigate our race tracking and timing system, RaceOwl

✅ Availability for both race days (September 19–20)

✅ Attendance at a brief online training session on September 3 at 6:30 PM

Whether you want to cheer on paddlers at dawn or keep things running smoothly at the finish line, there’s a spot for you:

✨ Volunteer Roles Available:

Pre-Race Setup & Registration: Help check in racers, unload boats/gear, and set the high-energy tone for the start!

Checkpoint Crews: Cheer on paddlers, track times, and keep everyone fueled with snacks and water along the river.

On-Water Safety & Spotters: Have a powered watercraft? Patrol designated sections of the course to keep paddlers safe.

Finish Line Crew: Record finish times, assist exhausted paddlers out of the water, and celebrate their amazing accomplishment!

Attention paddlers! We’ve officially updated our boat categories to include a new Unlimited Division!

Do you have a unique craft that doesn't quite fit the mold of a standard boat type? This is the category for you.

🔧 What qualifies for the Unlimited Division?
If your human-powered craft doesn't match standard specifications, you can now register under Unlimited. This includes ruddered canoes, modified kayaks, boats equipped with outriggers, and any other unique, custom, or non-standard human-powered setups!

🙌 Registration is OPEN for the September 19–20, 2026 race. Dust off your custom builds, fine-tune your setups, and let's see what you’ve got on the Red River!
