Ten years ago, 192,600 Manitobans had literacy levels so low they couldn’t fully participate in society.

Since then, funding for adult literacy in Manitoba has grown by less than 5%.

That number hasn’t gotten smaller. And the gap between what’s needed and what’s funded hasn’t closed.

LiteracyWORKS and CanU are on the ground every day working to change that — one adult, one child, one learner at a time. Ted’s Run exists to keep them going.

🏃 10K Adult — CA$50 (goes to $65)
🏃 10K Youth — CA$40 (goes to $55)
🏃 5K Adult — CA$40 (goes to $55)
🏃 5K Youth — CA$30 (goes to $45)
🚶 2K Individual — CA$25 (goes to $35)
👨‍👩‍👧 2K Family — CA$40 (goes to $50)

Meet Darcie. 👋

She is TRL’s Assistant Site Director, and one of the people who makes sure race day actually happens.

Darcie didn’t start running until she was 35. What happened next is what Ted’s Run is really about — she found a community, made lifelong friends, and never looked back. She even rescued her cat while trail running with Race Director Mike Bennett along the Red River. Found her right in St. John’s Park — the exact turnaround point for the TRL 10K. If that’s not a sign you belong to this race, we don’t know what is.

We couldn’t do this without Darcie. October 4 is going to be a great day, in part because of people like her.

Ted’s Run wouldn’t be possible without the people who show up before the starting gun goes off. 🧡

Our volunteers are the ones setting up water stations, cheering on runners, guiding people through the course, and making sure race day runs like clockwork. They’re as much a part of this race as the runners themselves.
