Designed for skaters ages 8 and up, this exciting bridging program helps children transition into figure skating while continuing to build the strong fundamentals they need to progress.

✨ INTRODUCING SYNCHROSKATE!
We are especially excited to introduce SynchroSkate to NorthStar Skating School this season!

Synchro is all about teamwork, coordination, connection, and having fun on the ice. Any skater age 6 and over with an interest in figure skating is welcome to join, and no previous synchro experience is required. Some skating experience is required.

SynchroSkate can be taken as a standalone program, or skaters can take advantage of our Synchro PLUS package, which combines:

⭐ StarSkate (45 mins) + SynchroSkate (45 mins)

It's a great opportunity for skaters to continue developing their individual figure skating skills while also experiencing the fun and excitement of skating as part of a team!

This season, we are thrilled to offer a few exciting new programs, including Adult & Tot and SynchroSkate.

We are especially excited to introduce SynchroSkate to NorthStar Skating School! Synchro is all about teamwork, coordination, and having fun on the ice, and any skater age 6 and over with an interest in figure skating is welcome to join. No previous synchro experience is required! Please reach out if this is something you might be interested in.

We will also continue to offer our core programs, including CanSkate, AdultSkate, Adult PowerSkate, Intro to StarSkate, and StarSkate, with programming taking place on Saturdays beginning in October. Our season runs from October 10, 2026, to March 20, 2027 at the St. Andrews Community Centre.

🏒 PARENTS: WATCH THEIR SKATING—NOT JUST THEIR GOALS.

Goals, assists and points are easy to notice.

But some of the most important parts of a player's development don't show up on the scoresheet.

⛸️ Watch their skating.

Can they accelerate quickly to a loose puck?

Can they stop and change direction under control?

Can they transition smoothly from forward to backward skating?

Can they maintain speed coming out of a turn?

Can they recover quickly and get back into position?

Can they move confidently when the game gets fast?

Before a player can make a play, get into position, win a puck battle or create a scoring opportunity...

They have to get there.

Strong skating gives players more options on the ice.

⚡ Faster acceleration can help them get to loose pucks.

🔄 Better turns and transitions can help them change direction and react to the play.

⛸️ Stronger edges can help them maintain control and move more confidently.

💨 More efficient skating can help them conserve energy and stay stronger throughout a shift.

And perhaps most importantly...

When players feel confident in their skating, they're more confident trying things on the ice.

So the next time you watch your player, don't just watch the puck.

We know schedules fill up quickly, and sometimes it takes a little time to find the right program for your player. That’s why we’re excited to offer Power Skating sessions this fall for Ages 6–10!

These sessions are designed to give young hockey and ringette players plenty of opportunities to move, repeat, learn, and improve—with technical corrections provided throughout the session.
