INTRODUCING THE ROGUE COMBO RACK 🏋️

We’re super excited to bring the Rogue Combo Rack to Mi’kma’ki Tigers Athletic Club — an IPF-certified competition squat and bench rack built to powerlifting standards.

Our goal is bigger than adding another piece of equipment. We want to plant the seed for a powerlifting community in our area and give youth, beginners, and experienced lifters a place to learn, train, and grow in the sport.

We’ll also have Rogue power bars, deadlift bars, specialty bars, and more, with calibrated competition plates coming as we continue to grow.

People say equipment doesn’t matter. We believe it does. Hard work comes first, but having the right tools and being able to practice on competition-standard equipment can make a real difference when preparing to step onto the platform.

We’re proud to invest in strength sports and help grow powerlifting in our community.

Plant the seed. Build the community. Grow the sport💪🏼🔥🐅

MI’KMA’KI TIGERS PROJECT UPDATE 🐅💪🏼

We’re getting closer!

Cleaning will be completed tomorrow, and next week we’ll begin painting and installing our new commercial-grade HRV ventilation system. We already have a heat pump, but proper fresh-air exchange and ventilation are important to the training environment we want to create.

The following week, our new gym flooring will begin going in.

Our goal is to have our leasehold improvements completed by the end of September, with equipment from Rogue, Gymleco, GluteBuilder, York, Concept2 and more arriving throughout the month.

We’re also waiting on our confirmed Life Fitness / Hammer Strength shipment date. Once we have that, we’ll announce our official opening date.

And coming in October… Glute Camp. 🍑

A lot is happening behind the scenes. We’re excited to bring a premium strength-training experience to our community.

Getting closer every day. 💪🏽

Life changes. Your routine changes. Your body changes. Your priorities change.

But one thing that can stay with you is movement — continuing to show up for yourself, even when showing up looks different than it used to.

Today, working out with our baby reminded us how much the environment matters.

It wasn’t just about having a place where bringing a baby felt okay. It was the little things — other gym-goers being positive, people talking to us, the front desk making us feel comfortable and nobody making the situation feel awkward.

That’s the kind of culture we want to create at Mi’kma’ki Tigers.

A place where you feel comfortable walking through the door.
A place where different stages of life are welcomed.
A place where people encourage each other.
A place with a strong sense of community.

Because life changes — and sometimes fitness has to change with it. 💪🏽❤️

FITNESS FAQ: QUESTIONS WE HEAR ALL THE TIME

There’s a lot of confusing fitness information online, especially around fat loss, glute training and women’s strength training. Here are a few common questions:

Q: “I want to lose a significant amount of weight. What should I focus on?”
A: Don’t make the goal simply losing weight as fast as possible. Focus on losing fat while preserving muscle:
• Progressive strength training
• Adequate protein
• A sustainable calorie deficit
• Gradual, consistent weight loss

Q: “How do I get rid of cellulite on my glutes?”

A: Cellulite is normal and extremely common, especially in women. There isn’t one exercise, cream or supplement proven to completely eliminate it. Strength training, nutritious eating, adequate sleep, stress management and, when appropriate, reducing body fat may help improve its appearance.

Q: “My glutes are saggy and weak. How do I make them look stronger?”
A: Build them! 🍑 Progressive resistance training is key. Hip thrusts, squats, lunges, hinges and other glute-focused movements can help develop stronger, more muscular glutes over time.

There’s rarely a magic exercise or quick fix.

Train consistently. Eat well. Recover. Give your body time.

Strength Training Does More Than Build Muscle 💪🏽

There are still a lot of misconceptions about strength training, especially when it comes to women.

You might have heard:

“You need cardio to burn fat.”

“You have to stretch constantly or you’ll become inflexible.”

“You need endless ab workouts to tighten your midsection.”

“Lifting weights is only for building big muscles.”

But strength training can do a lot more than simply change how your muscles look.

A well-designed strength program can help you:

* Build and maintain lean muscle
* Become stronger for everyday life
* Improve bone health
* Support body composition goals
* Improve balance and physical function
* Increase your ability to perform daily activities and sports
* Build confidence in what your body can do

Does that mean cardio, mobility work, and direct core training are useless? Absolutely not. They all have their place.

The point is that you don’t need to spend your entire workout trying to “burn off” food or doing hundreds of crunches.

Strength training is one of the best foundations you can build your fitness around.

Start where you are. Learn the movements. Progress gradually. Get stronger.

Your training should be about more than becoming smaller — it should help you become stronger and more capable.💪🏻
