The Beginning of Our Journey

Cricket has been a cherished sport in Windsor, Ontario, and across Canada for many decades. In the early 2000s, Arfan Ahmad, who honed his skills playing cricket in Pakistan and later with ACC Club in Toronto and Sunrise Cricket Club in Waterloo, relocated to Windsor and became a part of Windsor Cricket Club. This club was home to remarkable players such as Sukhjinder Rana, a former member of the Canadian Cricket Team. Arfan contributed to WCC for five years before taking a break to focus on his growing family.

In 2006, Kashif Saeed, started his cricketing journey in Michigan Cricket Association with Canton Cricket Club. In 2020 he joined the Windsor Essex Cricket League and played for Windsor Lions Cricket Club for a few years.

As Windsor's South Asian community expanded, Arfan Ahmad and Kashif Saeed envisioned creating a cricket club that would foster a positive and encouraging atmosphere for players. By late 2024, they collaborated with emerging talent like Hashir Butt and began hosting informal cricket sessions. It soon became evident there was sufficient interest among players to establish a formal club. Thus, Windsor Gymkhana Cricket Club came into being, driven by the mission to provide a respectful and supportive environment for young cricket enthusiasts.

Today, the club proudly participates in the Windsor Essex Cricket League, embarking on a promising and exciting cricket season ahead. Here's to continued growth and thrilling moments on the field!
