Windsor Aquatic Club

The Junior Pan Pacific Championships were held August 17–20 at the UBC Aquatic Centre in Vancouver, bringing together more than 300 of the fastest junior swimmers from countries including Japan, the USA, Australia, Canada, Brazil, New Zealand, and Singapore.

Each final featured 10 swimmers, with a maximum of two athletes from each country allowed in the A and B finals. This added another level of pressure: swimmers not only had to post a time fast enough to qualify for a second swim, but also had to finish among the top two from their country to earn the opportunity to represent their nation in the final.
GAVIN’S RESULTS:
100BK: Prelims -56.03 (0.4 PB) 8th. A final.  56.12 tied for 8th in lane 8.  Gavin was the TOP Canadian in this event. 👏

50 BK: Prelims- 26.45 to tie for 11th place (3 ties in the top rankings 3rd, 9th and 11th).  Gavin had to do a Swim off for the 10th spot in the A final 10min after his race.  He clocked a 26.48 to win the swim off and earn his spot in the A final. (9th fastest time).

A final- 26.17 in an outside lane.  With another tie in the bronze medal position.  Gavin placed 10th in a very tight field that was separated by only 1.01sec.  Gavin was also the TOP Canadian in this event.  

200BK- 2:08.99. 23rd.  This is an event that Gavin continues to grow in.  He gains experience and knowledge every time he swims it.  

Gavin swam third in the 4x100 free A relay and clocked a 50.67 split. He had the second fastest time for the team. Team Canada was 4th overall.  

50 free- 23.92. Just 0.08 sec off his best time. Prelims place- 25th in a field where everyone from 7th to 28th swam the event within the 23rd second! He was first alternate for the B final.

The records kept falling at the Ontario Swimming Championships! 🔥

Girls 13–14 400 Medley Relay
Aubrey Bedard, Alee Lalande, Christine Zhang, and Alivia Momotiuk broke the club record that had stood since 2020 with an incredible team performance!

Boys 13–14 400 Freestyle Relay
Patrick Gibbons, Henry Ufford, Nicholai Pan, and Hassanen Mansour shattered the club record by nearly 4 seconds, taking down a mark that had stood untouched since 2017!

Open Boys 400 Medley Relay
Gavin Schinkelshoek, Liam Reeves, Rhys Walda, and Harry Wei lowered a club record by more than 4 seconds, proving that fast just keeps getting faster!

Congratulations to Gavin Schinkelshoek!

Gavin set new 15–17 and Open club records in the 100 Backstroke at this past weekend’s Ontario Swimming Championships.

He also earned the 17 & Over Male High Point Award—an incredible accomplishment, especially after coming straight from the Canadian Swimming Trials.

Henry continued his outstanding season by lowering his own club records in both the 50m Breaststroke and 100m Breaststroke. Improving on records you set just one month ago at this level of competition is an incredible accomplishment. Way to go!

This weekend at the Ontario swim championships, Aubrey Bedard came away with two new club records among her podium finishes. She now holds the record for the 200m IM for the girls 13-14 year-olds and the 50m breaststroke. Congratulations Aubrey.

Another incredible weekend for Mariam Mansour! 💥

At the Ontario Swimming Championships, Mariam Mansour broke her own 200 Freestyle and 400 Freestyle club records—both of which she set earlier this year. She just keeps getting faster!

Gavin Schinkelshoek powered his way to a new 15–17 and Open club record in the 100 Freestyle with an impressive 51.17. In doing so, he broke the Open record that had stood since 1999—an incredible accomplishment that reflects the next generation of elite swimming at WAC.
