“But does equine-assisted therapy actually work?”
It’s one of the questions I’m asked most often (that and “why horses?”).
The researching is promising! Studies have found that equine-assisted therapy can help reduce symptoms of:
✨Anxiety
✨ Depression
✨ PTSD and trauma-related stress
✨ Emotional dysregulation
✨ Chronic stress and burnout
Equine assisted therapy isn’t simply spending time with horses. It’s an evidence-informed therapeutic approach where interactions with horses are intentionally integrated with psychotherapy to support meaningful emotional growth and healing.
While research continues to evolve, the growing body of evidence supports what many people experience firsthand: healing can happen in ways that don’t always begin with talking.
If you’ve ever wondered whether equine assisted therapy could be right for you, I’d be happy to answer your questions! 🐴

Many people have heard terms like Equine Assisted Learning (EAL), Equine Assisted Personal Development (EAPD), and Equine Assisted Therapy (EAT) — but aren't quite sure what the differences are.
While all three involve working with horses, they serve different purposes and can support people in different ways.
Whether the goal is building confidence, improving communication skills, increasing self-awareness, navigating life's challenges, or receiving therapeutic support, horses have an incredible ability to help us learn, grow, and heal.
Swipe through to learn more about the differences between EAL, EAPD, and EAT and discover what services are available right here at Keough Lane Stables. 🐴
