Sports In Kansas XC Runner to Watch: Reese Quinn, Hesston Senior
One of the top returning distance runners in Kansas, Reese Quinn of Hesston enters her senior season with an impressive resume of success on the course and the track.

Quinn has earned All-State Cross Country honors three times (2023, 2024, 2025) and All-State Track honors in 2024, 2025, and 2026, while also earning All-Academic Honors in XC in 2025.

As Hesston looks to continue its championship tradition, Quinn is excited about what this season could bring:

🏆 Hesston senior Ashley Lehman capped one of the greatest individual performances in state meet history with four gold medals and another record-breaking weekend.

Lehman is no stranger to rewriting the record book. After breaking three state meet records a year ago, she returned to Wichita and wasted no time making history again. In Saturday’s 100-meter preliminaries, Lehman clocked 11.87, lowering her own state meet record of 11.99 set last season. She followed that up by winning her third consecutive 3A state title in the event with a time of 12.01.

The records continued to fall in the 400 meters. Lehman shattered her own state meet mark in Friday’s prelims with a 54.02, trimming more than half a second off the previous record. The performance stands as the fastest time in Kansas this spring and ranks among the fastest ever recorded in state history. She went on to dominate the final in 54.94, winning by nearly three seconds.

Lehman's incredible day also included state titles in the 200 meters (24.10) and pole vault (12-8.25), giving her four individual championships. Her clearance of 12-8.25 established yet another state meet record in the pole vault.

Adding to the special moment, former record holder Belle Peter and Breanne Peters were on hand to congratulate Lehman after her record-breaking vault. Belle Peters, now a national champion at Pittsburg State University, helped celebrate as Lehman added her name even deeper into Kansas track and field history.

Four events. Four gold medals. Multiple records. Holds records in all of her events at state track.

With her four individual state championships this weekend, Lehman finished her career with 12 individual state gold medals, one of the most impressive totals in Kansas track and field history.
