Eagles Chance Golf & Driving Range

Our Junior Jitney wrapped up on Wednesday after a great summer! We had over 50 kids take part in the program this year which was awesome to see!

Congratulations to Brock MacDougall and Carman Carrigan, our season long champions! They both had a great year and earned their spots at the top of the standings for their respective divisions.

It was a lot of fun watching the kids play every week and seeing how much they improved from the start of the summer to the end. We had a few Wednesdays interrupted by rain and thunderstorms, but managed to get through it and have a great season.

Thanks to all the kids who came out this summer, and to the parents for getting them here every week. We really appreciate the support for the program and hope to see everyone back again next year!

This Wednesday we’ll wrap up the season with one last Jitney and crown our season-long Junior Jitney champions!

We were very saddened to hear of the passing of Terry White, the original founder of Eagles Chance Golf Centre.

Terry built Eagles Chance on his property in 1993 with a vision of creating a place where people could learn the game and develop a love for golf. More than 30 years later, we are incredibly fortunate to be carrying on something that he started.

When we took over Eagles Chance we had a lot to learn. Thankfully, Terry was never far away. He always made an effort to stop in regularly to check on us, answer our hundreds of questions, share ideas and stories about the property, and usually crack a joke about whatever problem we had managed to find that week.

There wasn't an issue at Eagles Chance that Terry hadn't already dealt with at some point. He was always willing to share what he knew, giving us advice, ideas, history about the property and, most importantly, his time. It was easy to see how much Eagles Chance still meant to him, and it meant a lot to us knowing that he cared about what we were doing with the place that he created.

Terry's impact on golf in our community is hard to put into words. Between nearly four decades at Abercrombie Country Club and the countless juniors and beginners he introduced to the game through Eagles Chance, he helped shape generations of golfers in this area. If you grew up playing golf in Pictou County, there's a pretty good chance Terry helped you, taught you, encouraged you, or had some influence on your love of the game.

Our time with Terry was much shorter than we wish it could have been, but we'll never forget his visits, the laughs, the advice and everything he taught us about this place.

Our thoughts are with Linda and the entire White family.

Thank you, Terry, you will be greatly missed, and there will always be a piece of Terry White here at Eagles Chance.

Our first Junior Jitney tournament of the summer is next Wednesday, July 15, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

The Junior Jitney will run every Wednesday throughout the summer for ages 8–16. Each week, players will compete and earn points toward our season-long leaderboard.

The cost is $20 per player and free for junior members. Each player will receive one large bucket of range balls and play 18 holes of golf in a team scramble format.

We’re looking forward to seeing everyone out for the first event!

It’s grading day!

P–12 students can bring in their report card today and get a free small bucket for the driving range plus a free freezie!
