For those of you who have known me pre-kids you will know the special bond I had with my grandmother. She was quite the firecracker and quite the actress(on and off stage-lol)
She wouldn’t order chicken from a restaurant without asking if “it was real chicken” and she loved to talk and talk(don’t know where I got it from).
She was the founder of alpha house which was a safe house for abused women and was the charity and volunteer queen.
I will never forget the day she trusted me and showed me the alpha house safe house.
I never told a soul.
She loved her family so much. Like many of us she struggled to manage family dynamics. I didn’t understand the stress she carried until I became a mother myself.
Happy Birthday my beautiful Dorothy.
There are still days for a brief moment I think you are still here.
I feel you with me often.
I’m so grateful for all of our time together and I’m so happy you got to meet and hold Braxton shortly before you passed away.
I wish I called more,listened more and hugged more.
I hope this inspires people to call their grandparents or parents. It’s the little things that mean so much.
Mom-we talked already today and I just got off the phone with dad so we’re good right?
