We're back home and heading to Clear Lake tomorrow to enjoy Tues. dive night with our buddies. Nothing beats diving and catching up with the crew. Only two more dive nights in August! We’ll keep diving in September while the weather stays nice — so grab your gear, grab your friends, and let's keep those mid‑week bubbles going. Alberta divers make summer last as long as possible. Did you ever wonder what happens when an isolated village of 400 people in Iceland becomes ground zero for a total solar eclipse?
Tens of thousands of people excited to witness this cosmic event show up. The result? Total, beautiful madness:
• Real-Life Tetris: Drivers park wherever they won’t get chased away
• Instant Cities: Tent cities pop up— tiny personal tents, camper vans, fancy white teepees
• Non-Stop Vibes: A massive 3-day eclipse rave party takes over
Meanwhile, our incredible hosts and pulled off the ultimate hospitality heist.
They booked out the entire local hotel. Every. Single. Room. For our adventure travel group! Instead of roughing it, we kicked back enjoying the ultimate luxuries:
• Flush toilets!
• Hot Icelandic showers!
• Cozy beds!
After the eclipse, as thousands of vehicles were in the traffic-congested road back to Reykjavík, we are warm, comfortable, and celebrating in style with a wonderful dinner and cozy bed.
Huge shoutout to and for locking this down. We officially win the eclipse! I highly recommend them for adventure touring!

First up: Bonaire! David and Jen are aging like fine wine
and we will celebrate their birthdays in January 2027. If you want sunshine, warm water and a great travel group, this is your trip. Details and sign‑up info are on the trips page at AlbertaDivers.ca.
Can’t wait until January? There might be a spot left on our Roatan trip, Nov 29–Dec 6, 2025. Check with Kevin at the dive store — he’s the keeper of the sacred roster.
Adventure awaits. Come join the fun.

Our travel group — plus120,000 other eclipse chasers —made our own fun while waiting optimistically in the rain and cloud for the big moment. It was soggy and hilarious staring at the grey sky; tripods became drink holders, cameras were put in dry bags.
And then… a miracle. The clouds parted in one tiny spot for three unbelievable minutes right before totality. Just long enough to watch that last sliver of the sun disappear. Three minutes of magic that made our day!

After ten stormy days of rain and wind, the sun finally showed up — just in time for a refreshing shore dive in Hjalteyri, in the Northeastern Region of Iceland. The ocean delivered today: flounders, crabs, and my very first juvenile monkfish. I never get tired of ocean dives — every one feels like opening a new chapter underwater.
