"I let my Solo 14 go and realized it was a mistake... so I bought another one."
We can't think of a better endorsement of the Whitehall Spirit® Solo 14.
After deciding to part with his Solo 14®, one owner quickly realized just how much he missed it. It wasn't long before another Whitehall Solo 14® was on its way.
Colin delivered the new boat to Temecula, California after delivering a Tango 17® to Big Bear, and by the weekend it was already on the water at beautiful Lake Skinner, right where it belongs.
Stories like this remind us that the Whitehall Spirit® isn't just another boat. It becomes part of your lifestyle, your routine, and your favourite way to spend time on the water. Once you've experienced rowing one, it's hard to imagine being without it.
Thank you to Jim for sharing his story to our Whitehall Spirit Rowing Community page and welcome back to the Whitehall family! 🚣

One of the things people love most about the Whitehall Spirit® Solo 14® and Tango 17® is how confidence-inspiring they are to row.
Unlike a traditional racing shell, these boats are exceptionally stable, removing the fear of capsizing that can discourage many people from trying slide-seat rowing. They feel intuitive from the very first stroke, and it's not uncommon for complete beginners to be rowing comfortably during their first outing.
Whether you're new to rowing or have decades of experience, the Solo 14® and Tango 17® are designed to help build confidence, and simply enjoy being on the water. Their responsive handling and impressive manoeuvrability make them a pleasure to row, whether you're exploring a quiet lake, navigating a busy marina, or heading off on a longer adventure.
That's why Whitehall Spirit® owners range from first-time rowers to lifelong enthusiasts, these are boats you'll feel comfortable in from day one and continue to enjoy for years to come.

If you store your Whitehall Spirit® rowboat outdoors, the Lexan cover battens are an accessory you'll definitely want to use.
In this video, Whitehall CEO and co-founder Harold Aune demonstrates how quick and easy they are to install. These heavy-duty Lexan battens fit into the batten bases that come standard on every Whitehall Spirit® Solo 14® and Tango 17®, creating a gentle arch beneath the cover that allows rainwater to run off instead of pooling.
Preventing standing water helps reduce strain on your cover, minimizes the build-up of leaves and debris, and provides better protection for your boat while it's stored.
It's another example of the thoughtful design that goes into every Whitehall Spirit® rowboat, small details that make ownership simpler, so you can spend less time maintaining your boat and more time enjoying it on the water.

Can you take your dog rowing in a Whitehall Spirit® rowboat? 🐶🚣
One of the questions we hear most often is whether dogs can come along for the row, and the answer is a resounding yes. Over the years we've seen everything from tiny lap dogs to large adventure-loving retrievers become enthusiastic Whitehall companions.
For larger dogs, we recommend having them sit in the stern where there's plenty of room to stretch out. Many dogs also love riding in the bow, while smaller breeds are often perfectly happy curled up on a passenger's lap. If you're planning adventures with two larger dogs, the Whitehall Spirit® Tango 17 offers significantly more space than the Solo 14, making it our top choice for bringing the whole family along.
💡 Pro Tip: Pick up an inexpensive yoga mat and trim it to fit the bow or stern. It helps protect the boat's finish while giving your dog's paws extra grip, making every outing more comfortable and secure.
After all, the best days on the water are even better when your best friend is along for the ride. 🐾
Do you row with your dog? We'd love to see your photos in the comments!

When most people think of expedition-style adventures, a rowboat probably isn't the first thing that comes to mind. But that's exactly where the Whitehall Spirit® Solo 14® and Tango 17® excel.
With impressive carrying capacity, exceptional seaworthiness, and an incredibly efficient hull, these boats are built to travel. Load them up with camping gear, fishing equipment, or everything you need for a multi-day adventure, then quietly explore coastlines, lakes, and island chains under your own power.
On one of our favourite crew trips, we loaded up a fleet of Whitehall Spirit® Solo 14®s, Tango 17®s, and Oar Boards® and set off to explore the spectacular Broken Islands Group in Barkley Sound. We covered miles of open water, rowing from island to island, and experienced this incredible marine park from a perspective few people ever do.

Designed to securely fasten your Whitehall Spirit® rowboat to a dock, the Gunwale Tie-Down Strap helps keep your boat safely in place. Whitehall CEO and co-founder Harold Aune uses these straps on both his Solo 14® and Tango 17® at his own dock as demonstrated in this video.
Sometimes it's the simple details that make boat ownership easier, allowing you to spend less time worrying about your boat and more time enjoying it on the water. 🚣
