🏆 The Challenge Cup has found its first home🏆

Our past president Steve Shulhan, had the honour of presenting the inaugural West Shore Mayors & Councillors Challenge Cup to Colwood Mayor Doug Kobayashi, whose municipality took home the trophy after an exciting evening of competition.

The Cup will now have a place of honour at Colwood City Hall until next year's Challenge Cup, when Colwood will return to defend its title!

Congratulations once again to Colwood, and thank you to all five West Shore municipalities for making our inaugural event such a success.👏

West Shore Mayors & Councillors Challenge Cup
Thursday, August 13th, 2026

What an amazing evening at this inaugural event, with all five West Shore municipalities represented! Mayors and Councillors came together for an evening of friendly competition, community connection and some amazing bowling on the greens!

Congratulations to Colwood, who took home the inaugural West Shore Mayors & Councillors Challenge Cup🏆

A huge thank you to everyone who came out to compete, cheer on their municipality and help make the evening such a success. A special thank you to our club members who helped welcome our guests, provide coaching and make the evening so enjoyable.

We all enjoyed a fabulous BBQ with all the trimmings, followed by ice cream and all the fixings for dessert! What a great way to end the evening.

We would like to extend our sincere thanks to Lee Valley Tools, Save-On-Foods (Colwood), The Rose, Colwood Pizza Co. and My-Chosen Café for their generous support of the event. Your contributions helped make the evening extra special.

We were proud to showcase our club and the sport of lawn bowls to our West Shore neighbours. We hope this is the start of a new annual tradition!

Here are a few photos from the action on the greens. If you want to see more, a full collection of photos from the Challenge Cup is now available on our website: https://juandefucalbc.ca/

🏆 The Inaugural "West Shore Mayors & Councillors Challenge Cup" is coming!🏆

The Juan de Fuca Lawn Bowls Club is proud to host the first-ever West Shore Mayors & Councillors Challenge Cup, inviting the elected officials and senior staff of Colwood, Langford, View Royal, Metchosin, and Highlands to come together for an evening of friendly competition, community connection, and a little municipal rivalry.

Thursday, August 13th, 2026
5:30 - 8:00 p.m.
Juan de Fuca Lawn Bowls Club (located in Colwood on the lower grounds of West Shore Parks & Recreation, behind The Q Centre)

Each municipality has been invited to field a team of up to eight participants, consisting of the Mayor, Councillors and senior staff, to compete for the inaugural West Shore Mayors & Councillors Challenge Cup. No lawn bowls experience is necessary as club coaches will provide a brief introduction before the competition begins.

Residents are warmly invited to come out and cheer on their municipality as teams compete for the West Shore Mayors & Councillors Challenge Cup. Whether you're a lawn bowler or have never seen the game before, come out, support your municipality, and enjoy an evening of fun and community spirit.

We look forward to welcoming competitors, supporters, and the community for what we hope will become an annual West Shore tradition.

Stay tuned for more updates as we get closer to the Challenge Cup. We'll be sharing participating municipalities and other exciting news along the way!
