At the local hill! Is where many Canadian ski stories start.

👉 The one where you took your first lesson and probably fell on the magic carpet a few times. We've all been there.

👉 The one that hosted the school ski trip you still think about.

👉 The one staffed by people who remember your name, your kid's name, and what size boots you rented last year.

👉 The one that's a 20-minute drive, not a flight away.

These community hills have taught generations of Canadians how to ski and snowboard. Most of them run on the patience of instructors, the time of volunteers, and the support of families who keep showing up.

Destination trips are great. But the local hill is usually where the idea became a smile, that turned into a love of snow sports.

Where did you learn to ski or snowboard? Tag the ski area in the comments and show them some love!

A lot of Canadian ski areas run year-round now. Summer just looks a little different.

When the snow melts at Horseshoe Resort, the lifts keep spinning for a whole different crowd:

👉 Lift-access downhill biking, plus lessons and races

👉 Community events like Bike Fest and Women's Ride Nights

👉 Rock climbing, gem mining, and tubing on Lake Horseshoe

👉 Golf, if that's more your speed

The same mountains, lodges, and trail networks that get people outside in February are doing the same job in July. That's good for the local economy, and for anyone who's been meaning to spend more time outdoors but doesn't know where to start.

Happy Canada Day! 🇨🇦

A lot of what feels Canadian happens on snow. At least, in our hearts.

👉 The first snowfall of the year.

👉 The school ski trip you still talk about years later.

👉 Hot chocolate in the lodge with your boots still on.

👉 Learning to turn on your family ski trip.

👉 Or the chairlift chats with total strangers who become friends by the bottom of the run.

These are the woos!

While we're celebrating Canada today, we're also celebrating the people, places, and lifts that make our winters worth looking forward to.

What winter moment feels most Canadian to you?

Be honest... are you still thinking about ski season too? 👀

Some people pack away their gear and move on to summer.

Others are already thinking about first chair, mountain road trips, and where they want to ski next season.

We’re definitely the second group.

What hill is already on your list for next winter?

Summer is one of the best times to start planning for ski season! ☀️

Many ski shops begin discounting last season’s gear in the off-season, making it a great opportunity to research equipment, compare options, and find deals before winter demand returns.

It is also a good time to check helmets and older gear before the season starts again.

A little planning now can make getting back on snow next winter feel a whole lot easier.

Do you usually shop for gear before winter, or wait until the season starts?

Congratulations, Team Canada, on an inspiring World Cup run so far. Best of luck in the next round!

One of the things we love most about sport is its ability to bring people together. Whether it’s soccer, skiing, snowboarding, hockey, or anything in between, sport creates connections, builds confidence, and gives us all something to celebrate.

Way to go, Team Canada!

Today, on National Indigenous Peoples Day, we recognize and celebrate First Nations, Inuit, and Métis peoples, communities, cultures, and contributions across Canada.

Skiing and snowboarding take place on lands with deep histories and connections that long predate the sport itself. It is an important reminder to continue learning, listening, and building respectful relationships with the communities connected to the places where we live, work, and play.

Sport also has the power to create connection by bringing people together through shared experiences outdoors, on snow, and in community.

Today is an opportunity to reflect, learn more, and recognize the importance of Indigenous voices, stories, and perspectives across Canada.
