Happy New Bike Day to this happy bike rider! They came in to talk cargo bikes. They don’t have kids or a dog but that doesn’t matter, they wanted to do more by bike. Costco ✅Hardware store ✅ Take a friend out for a fun night in the town ✅ Have more fun running errands ✅ Often people come into our store and say “I don’t need a cargo bike” which of course can be true, but usually after we talk they realise that they are driving a car way more than they want to. For short trips to carry things that don’t fit on a traditional bike, or to pick up things that are further than they want to bike. This person understood that and ecargo bike can solve both those problems plus many more, not replace their bike but replace car trips that they weren’t doing by bike. Now which one? After a couple of visits and quite a few test rides both with and without a friend they decided on the excellent Load 60 from Riese & Müller This bike is a pleasure to ride, full suspension, gen 5 motor and just barely longer than your regular bike, plus massive amounts of cargo space. Who says Cargo bikes are just for kids? This family came in looking for a bike that could carry an adult. They have been car free in Vancouver for a long time which was never an issue but when a recent bouldering injury put one of them in a cast they were starting to feel like getting around together became challenging. That’s when they decided that a cargo bike could be the way forward. They came in two talk options and test ride and decided that the excellent Urban Arrow cargo was the bike for them. They bought a used long tail with an e-upgrade kit a couple of years ago when there kiddo was young and immediately fell in love with they rode the bike everywhere but realized that their bike was on borrowed time so they started looked for the upgrade. They wanted something with a small footprint, something that both kids could fit on for years to come, they wanted it to be easy to ride, low maintenance and they are very different heights and wanted to share it. This is the thing about box bikes vs long tails, box bikes ride better with weight, long tails ride just like your regular bike when they are empty but the ride changes as the cargo gets heavier. We love all cargo bikes but we always say think about your 80% Short ride with kids long ride without perfect for a long tail but if you are going to be full 80% of the time you will likely prefer a box bike.
