Shoutout to the extra initiative shown by Coaches Talia, Luke and Katelyn! ๐Ÿ”ฅ

Over a week of summer camps, our coaches did more than teach tennis, they paid attention ๐Ÿ”

They noticed who chased down every ball. Who lit up the group with their stories. Who showed kindness on and off the court ๐Ÿซถ

So on Games Day, they created an award for every single student, celebrating what makes them stand out ๐Ÿ†

Our coaches see the kids for who they are and what makes them special ๐ŸŽพ

This is what our coaches do best and why students thrive in our camps ๐Ÿš€

We have 5 weeks of Summer Camps left for ages 4 to 17 - reserve your spot today ๐Ÿ‘‰๐Ÿฝ

How can you improve the consistent and feel of your forehands?

Many beginners lose control of their forehand because the racquet face turns away from the target or closes too early during and after impact.

To fix this, keep your strings facing the direction you want the ball to go by imagining hitting through 1 - 2 - 3 balls ๐ŸŽพ

Visualizing hitting through three balls extends your hitting zone and improves control ๐Ÿคž

Longer hitting zone towards your target = more accuracy and depth on every forehand ๐ŸŽฏ

Coach Jeremyโ€™s story with Summer Smash goes back to the very beginning in 2012. Jer was one of our first students, joining our summer camps at just 8 years old, coached directly by our Directors, Spencer and Marshall ๐ŸŒฑ

Those early experiences in our tennis camps shaped his foundation as a player and coach. Today, Jer is one of our Head Coaches, and has worked with thousands of students across Vancouver๐Ÿ†

What stands out to Coach Jeremy is how much tennis develops students beyond the court โ€” building focus, coordination, and confidence โ€” skills kids carry into everything else they do, and the earlier they start, the deeper the foundation ๐Ÿง

Our summer camps are built around this idea of establishing a foundation. Kids donโ€™t just learn tennis, they build discipline, teamwork, and resilience that shows up everywhere else in their lives, both on and off the court ๐Ÿ”ฅ

Full circle moments like this are exactly why we strive for, and why we do what we do โค๏ธ

How should higher level players deal with shorter balls?

A short ball hit close to or inside the service line is your chance to attack โ˜„๏ธ

Many intermediate players wait too long on these shots, letting the ball drop low before making impact. By then, youโ€™re forced to lift the ball, taking away your leverage and power.

๐Ÿ”‘ The fix: attack the short ball while itโ€™s still around shoulder height, with a shoulder to shoulder swing.

Earlier and higher contact = more pace, more control, and more winners ๐ŸŽฏ

๐ŸŽพ Tennis Tip Tuesday Pt. 3: Featuring Coach Barbora๐Ÿ’ก

How can you improve your serve using your tossing arm? ๐Ÿ‘‡

Many players drop their non-dominant hand too early during the toss, collapsing it before the racquet reaches the optimum point of contact. That early collapse pulls your body and racquet path down, sending your serve into the net.

To fix this, keep your non-dominant hand up and extended for as long as you can before impact ๐Ÿ™Œ

The longer that hand stays up, the more your body stays upward through contact.

Hand stays high = your point of contact stays high = your serve clears the net with room to spare ๐ŸŽฏ
