City of North Vancouver Councillor Tony Valente has a way of reframing the whole conversation in the latest episode of Bike Sense. He and Peter dig into "bike lash" โ the growing political pushback against cycling infrastructure โ and makes the case that what we're really building isn't just for bikes.
It's for the senior on a sit-down scooter heading to meet friends at the beach.
The kids riding to school instead of getting driven.
The families trading their second car for a cargo bike.
Tony's argument: when the infrastructure isn't there, none of that is safe or possible. The answer to congestion was never going to be more lanes for cars.

The B.C. Legislative Assembly's special committee reviewing ICBC's Enhanced Care provisions closes public input on Thursday, June 25 at 2 p.m. PT.
If you ride a bike in B.C., this review affects you. Enhanced Care determines what coverage you're entitled to if you're injured on the road. Getting these rules right for vulnerable road users is exactly what we do here at the BCCC.
