This World Hepatitis Day, we are highlighting the important role of LFHC’s Prevention Team in helping families protect their children from preventable illness.
While much of the team’s work focuses on preventing malnutrition, they also share practical health information on many other conditions, including hepatitis.

Hepatitis A, the most common type we see in children at Lao Friends Hospital for Children, is usually spread through contaminated food or water and poor hand hygiene. Hepatitis B can also pass from an infected mother to her baby during birth.

Through conversations with families and communities, our Prevention Team promotes simple but important measures such as regular handwashing, safe drinking water, properly cooked food, vaccination and hepatitis B screening during pregnancy. For families with limited access to reliable health information, this knowledge can make a real difference.

Thanks to your support, our Prevention team ensures that families receive trusted health education and free healthcare when they need it most.
