A Skating That Translates ®️ clip . Jack Eichel’s tie goal from last night. The standout part is how effortlessly he adjusts his speeds . Engages his blade to manipulate based on what’s required . Jack shaves the ice puts pressure on his outside leg , inside edge isolating his weight to create friction to reduce his speed upon entry off a pass reception . Change of pace , poise and patience . He dictates and controls the pace .
Here’s a clip of one of my players working on that exact skill earlier this year.
This is all part of our Skating That Translates® curriculum. Our program starts with themed skating : base layer .
We then break down real game movements, puck skills and build layers, and teach the chain of events to the tactical application. That’s how players develop hockey IQ — through repeated high-frequency patterns that mirror the natural flow and structure of the game.
Add chaos compete, duress, and small-area games and you start producing real gamers. This model has been my development model for the past 8 years . We are constantly refining and collaborating with like minded coaches , developing the system to keep pace with the game .
