❣️The body speaks differently when you change the conversation.

👉In our private session today, we did a little experiment: Reformer exercises WITH straps vs. WITHOUT straps. The goal wasn’t to make the movement harder 🥵 BUT just wanted to listen to how her muscles reacted.

Here is what her body told us 👂

👉The arm straps engaged her core, but also triggered some neck tension. When we dropped the straps? Pure core, no neck strain.

👉The leg straps actually gave her a micro-rest on the return phase and felt more on her legs with extension. Without the straps, her core had to work non-stop just to hold the weight of her own legs.

☝️The most important takeaway? This is her unique body story. If you did this exact same experiment, your nervous system might react completely differently!

This is the power of 1-on-1 Pilates. We don’t just blindly push springs and count reps. We listen, we adapt, and we build true movement awareness tailored exactly to your body’s needs.

💡In a recent private session, we did a short experiment: Reformer exercises WITH straps vs. WITHOUT straps. The goal wasn’t to make the movement harder, but rather to listen to how the muscles reacted.

Here is what the experiment revealed for her 💪

👉The arm straps engaged the core but also triggered some neck tension. Without the straps, there was pure core engagement and zero neck strain.

👉The leg straps provided a micro-rest on the return phase but felt her legs were working. Without the straps, the core had to work continuously just to support the weight of the legs

The most important takeaway is that this is a unique body story. If you did this exact same experiment, your nervous system might react completely differently!

💫Learn. Apply. Experience. Then learn deeper.

🙌As movement instructors/educators many of us begin our education with anatomy, biomechanics, and theory through our foundational certifications.

👆But as our careers continue, so much of our continuing education becomes focused on learning more movement, more exercises, and more sequences.

💪And movement matters. Experience matters. Practice matters.

👉But I believe there comes a point in an instructor’s career when we need to return to the why.

😉Once you’ve spent years teaching, observing different bodies, and applying what you originally learned, theory starts to make sense differently.

🧐You have more questions. You see more. You understand what you don’t understand.

And that’s when going back to the foundation ➡️anatomy, kinesiology, biomechanics, structure, and clinical reasoning⬅️can completely change the way we look at movement.

Learn → Apply → Experience → Learn Deeper → Apply Again. This is the perspective Dr. Hong × MOA wanted to share with you.

👌Not simply adding more exercises to memorize, but creating space to listen, observe, discuss, question, and understand—then take that deeper understanding back into the movement we already teach.

😃We’re incredibly excited to welcome Dr. Hong from South Korea to Toronto for our Clinical Kinesiology & Pilates Theoretical Seminar.

Kinda chic to move incredibly slow so you actually feel the right muscles working.

🇰🇷 Korea to 🇨🇦 Canada Presents

💫Clinical Pilates Certificate Workshop
with Dr. Junggi Hong

For the first time, one of Korea’s most respected leaders in Clinical Kinesiology and Clinical Pilates is bringing his expertise to Canada.

Clinical Pilates goes beyond traditional Pilates instruction.

When movement is prescribed without understanding joint instability, structural imbalances, or movement dysfunction, even well-intended exercise can reinforce compensation patterns rather than improve them.

This masterclass is designed to bridge the gap between rehabilitation principles and practical Pilates instruction.

📝You’ll learn how to:
• Assess movement with greater clinical confidence.
• Select exercises based on each client’s individual condition—not a one-size-fits-all sequence.
• Modify and progress movement safely for clients experiencing pain, instability, or physical limitations.
• Deliver a more evidence-informed, personalized experience that translates directly into your daily teaching.

Every concept is designed to be immediately applicable in your own studio, allowing you to confidently serve a wider range of clients with better long-term outcomes.

👵 At 81, and with 40 years of Pilates behind her, the intention has completely shifted.

It is no longer about proving strength in the moment.
It is about preserving it and living it 🙌

This is the long-term vision I hold for this space ✨

Pilates is not just a quick fitness trend, or an aesthetic to chase. Those can be part of the journey 👆but they are not the foundation.

💡 The true purpose is to become a lifelong companion for your body.

Through decades ⌛️of movement, the practice becomes a masterclass in trust and observation.

We don’t 🙅‍♀️ force intensity or chase extreme ranges of motion.

We return to the foundation.
We listen to what the body is asking for today,
and adapt the movement to honor its history 💕

Respect your history.
Move through your own body 🤸

Open to change,
but grounded in foundation first ☺️
