Daily teachings: Kime
Welcome to September - a new school year begins
Welcome back to a new school year and a fresh training season at Point of Impact / Kime Dojo!
Whether you're stepping back onto the mats, balancing schoolwork with training, or starting your martial arts journey this term, here is how to make the transition smooth and effective.
Keys to a Strong Start

Consistent Schedule: Align your martial arts class times with your new academic timetable early. Consistency in the first 3–4 weeks sets the rhythm for the rest of the year.

Gear & Pack Prep: Keep your gi, belt, sparring gear, and water bottle packed in your kit bag the night before training days so nothing gets forgotten after school or work.

Goal Setting: Dedicate this first month to setting 1–2 specific goals—whether it’s refining a specific technique, building conditioning, or preparing for the next belt grading- end of October

Rest & Recovery: The combination of academic demands and physical training can be taxing initially. Prioritize sleep and proper hydration to keep energy levels up.

Daily teachings: Immune system and Karate:
Ever wonder how stepping onto the dojo mat actually protects your body from getting sick?

Training isn't just about discipline and self-defense—it actively fortifies your immune system from the inside out.

Here is how consistent karate practice keeps your immune defenses strong:

Boosts White Blood Cells: Training increases baseline levels of circulating lymphocytes (pathogen hunters) and monocytes (microbe cleanup cells).

Elevates Key Antibodies: Long-term practice boosts IgG and IgM immunoglobulins, enhancing your body’s ability to recognize and neutralize bacteria and viruses.

Mobilizes Natural Killer Cells: Dynamic footwork, lunges, and striking patterns rapidly stimulate natural killer (NK) cells—your body’s immediate frontline defense against infection.

Regulates Stress & Cortisol: Combining physical exertion, focused breathing (kiai), and mental discipline lowers chronic stress, preventing cortisol from suppressing immune functions.

Promotes Lymphatic Drainage: Muscle contractions during forms (kata) and sparring (kumite) act as a pump for the lymphatic system, draining toxins and filtering pathogens throughout the body.

A quick reminder for our students: Consistency is key! Regular, moderate-to-high intensity training yields these awesome health benefits, but remember to balance hard work with proper rest and nutrition to keep your body operating at peak performance.

See you at the dojo for the next class! 🥋⚡

Daily teachings: “In Karate, there is no opponent — you conquer self.”
The deepest truth in Karate is that the real battle is never with another person.
It is with your own fear, ego, doubt, hesitation, and weakness. When you step into the dojo, you are not fighting an opponent —
you are fighting the part of yourself that wants to quit, the part that gets angry,
the part that loses focus, the part that forgets discipline.Karate teaches you that victory is internal.
If you conquer your mind, your technique becomes sharp.
If you conquer your emotions, your spirit becomes unbreakable.
If you conquer your body, your movement becomes effortless.A true karateka does not seek to defeat others.
A true karateka seeks to master self.
