What if you’re not attached to your body... but to the story you’ve been telling about it?
That realization changed the way I think about body image, healing, and even grief.
In my latest podcast episode, I share why learning to let go of those stories might be the first step toward finding body peace.

There was a time that we didn’t have scales and weren’t obsessed with numbers, and we knew how to care for our bodies.
That knowing came through connection: through listening and noticing what felt better and what didn’t. Focusing on scales takes us away from that.
When we re-establish that connection to our bodies we re-establish trust. One that supports our health, not abandons it.
If you’re ready to let go of fixating on the number on the scale and want support to re-establish trust with the your body, comment GUIDE to get a free copy of The Guide to Body Peace: For women tired of “fixing” their bodies, and ready to feel free.

I’ve been feeling a lot of grief this week. And it reminded me how dieting can be used as a way to NOT feel. It trains us to live in the mind, instead of the body.
This is another reason why I believe body peace is such a powerful path: it reconnects us to our body instead of separate us from it.

Tall and slender isn’t better than short and stocky. Any idea that one is better than the other is BS.

The weight gets all the attention. Maybe because it’s the thing we actually see and feel. But the weight didn’t change in a vacuum - something else under the surface is going on, and THAT’S what requires your attention.
Sometimes it can be a physical or environmental issue, but a lot of the time it’s a mental/emotional one. And when that is addressed and shifted, the physical body will shift to. But not as the cause, but as an effect.

To be clear: I don’t believe you can make a “wrong” decision. What I’m suggesting is that SO often we jump to a conclusion or action because we are in a state of fear, rather than waiting to see what ideas come to mind when we’re not so fearful.
Fear will tell us “you HAVE to do this, or else!” But there is another voice we can listen to that is calmer and centered. Maybe the direction from that voice will be the same, or maybe it will be different. But giving it a shot is worth listening to.
Shifting from decisions made out of fear to decisions made from wisdom is what I help my clients do in body peace coaching. Click the link 🔗in my bio to learn more about it.
