This class is continuing for those who have completed the Rumba Flamenca or have at least 6 months of training. The Tangos is lively palo (style) is very rhythmic and has a more flowing open and syncopated guitar accompaniment. Tangos are one of the most important flamenco dance forms to learn due to their steady compas, moderate -to-fast tempo and exciting buid up in speed into the rumba flamenco. Live flamenco guitar

This video is part of the film Rooftop Flamenco from 2021 when we performed on our rooftop! Dancers Anjelica, Sachi and students of the school came together on a hot, windy June day to dance!

Children’s Flamenco is back! RITMO FLAMENCO is excited to offer a children’s Flamenco class geared for kids starting age 6 to 12 years. The students will learn all aspects of Flamenco in a fun upbeat manner.

Valerie Scannura is a certified and acclaimed dance teacher with qualifications from the National Ballet School’s Teacher Training Program and has experienced a lifetime of teaching performing and studying all forms of Spanish Dance! She also specializes in Flamenco and is the Artistic Director of the acclaimed Dance company Ritmo Flamenco.

INTERMEDIATE FLAMENCO (ALEGRIAS)
Sept 14 – December 7 (11 wks) No class Oct 12 and Nov 16
The Alegrias is a dance that emerged as one of the most prominent dances, containing all the elements of flamenco. It emerged from the Barrio de Santa Maria in Cadiz and developed into one of the most intricate and expressive dances in flamenco. It contains intricate “zapateado” steps and culminates in a Bulerias which makes it even more exciting. A great dance to build a student’s repertoire after learning the Bulerias and Tangos dances. Live flamenco guitar and singing.

First day of Flamenco at the Summer Program 2026 at Balletomane! I am teaching 4 different classes with kids starting at age 7-17! We always have so much fun working with these talented young dancers!

Even though our base is in Toronto, Valerie and Roger Scannura have a home in Prince Edward County and for over a decade their presence has injected a distinct European and Spanish artistic flavour into the rural arts scene of the county.

The ensemble is a registered member of the Prince Edward County Arts Council, adding cultural diversity to the local creative community.

Living in the centre of wine country, they regularly perform at various wineries and special events. Catch them at Redtail Winery or or Huff Estates as well as special private events at the Royal Hotel, Wander the Resort and the Eddie.
