Reformer Play is a chance to explore a theme, workshop new challenges, and spend more time with exercises that ask a little more of you.

Expect creative sequencing, opportunities to refine technique, experiment with variations, and build confidence in movements that don’t always make it into a regular class. It’s less about getting everything “right”and more about curiosity, exploration, and discovering what you’re capable of when you have the time and space to play.

For movers who enjoy being challenged, thinking a little differently, and diving deeper into the Pilates repertoire.

Recovery has become one of fitness’ favourite buzzwords.

But recovery isn’t the same thing as rest.

When you plug your phone it’s “not doing nothing” while it’s charging. Energy is being restored. Systems are being repaired. Functions are being optimized so it can perform again.

Your body works much the same way.

Recovery isn’t about stopping. It’s about restoring the systems that allow you to move, think, adapt, and feel like yourself. It’s when tissues repair, circulation improves, nutrients get delivered where they’re needed, and your nervous system gets a chance to shift out of survival mode.

And this is true physically and emotionally.

When we’re recovering from stress, injury, grief, burnout, heartbreak, or even just a particularly demanding week, complete inactivity isn’t always the answer. Often what we need is active recovery: intentional movement, breath, mobility work, practices that support the body without asking more from it.

The body loves movement.
Not punishment.

This is one of the reasons we love Pilates.

Unlike exercise that repeatedly loads a single movement pattern or muscle group, Pilates asks the body to do many things at once. To organize, coordinate, stabilize, mobilize, lengthen, strengthen, and breathe. You’re moving through different planes, using different types of muscular contractions, challenging balance, control, awareness, and adaptability.

Done well, Pilates isn’t just exercise.
It’s recovery.

Not because it’s easy, but because it helps the body function better while it’s working. You leave feeling stronger, but often more regulated, more connected, and more capable than when you walked in.

Sometimes the most restorative thing you can do is to keep moving.

Today is the 2nd year anniversary of The Muse Mat Oasis opening its doors so we thought we’d take a little trip down memory lane and reintroduce ourselves!

Muse Movement was founded in 2014 by who wanted to create a space that everyone felt welcome in! Since then there have been many iterations of Muse as we adapt to the world around us, grow and expand .

Keri and her team are committed to the care, nuance and intentionality that goes into creating belonging and know that saying ‘Pilates for everybody’ is not enough!

Muse is space where people can feel challenged in their movement practice but also be met where they were at. The main method at Muse: understanding there is a human behind the body you are teaching - teach to the person In front of you : not a dogma, not a choreography , not a rule book.

In this vast landscape of Pilates studios and branding and marketing beyond trying to cave a niche or claim they did it first, Muse in its many iterations has always done one this really well - provide a welcome space and teach quality classes with care and a mission to help you move with more ease .

Simple. Authentic. Genuine . No gimmicks just passion .

Thank you for the last 12 years of Muse , 2 years of the Mat Oasis and to many more to come.

Strong plank ≠ just core strength.
Without full scapular stabilization — especially engaging the serratus anterior, you’re building on an unstable foundation. True stability starts from the shoulders.🔥💪🏾
