23 teams took to the water on Friday, with the Freeman Cup on the line and plenty of competition across the fleet.

The day turned into a battle for wind as crews worked their way around the course, looking for every bit of breeze they could find. Light and shifting conditions kept everyone on their toes, making every tactical decision and every extra bit of speed count.

Day 1 of LYRA 2026 + EYC Open is officially in the books.

65 boats made their way onto the racecourse across J/105, J/80, 8 Metre, Fast 30+, Dragon, Beneteau 36.7 and three PHRF fleets.

From the start line to the dock, it was a busy first day of course racing at EYC. With this many boats on the water, there was no shortage of close racing, traffic and opportunities to blame the wind.

One day down. More racing and more stories to come.

All Junior Sailors and their families and friends are invited to join us for a special evening celebrating the achievements of our sailors and another successful season with the Junior Sail Program at EYC.

• Live Band at 8 PM

• Silent Auction closes at 10 PM
