A 162-year-old bottle of Guinness has been discovered by divers in a shipwreck off the English coast.

Belgian underwater photographer Stefan Panis found the bottle while exploring a wreck near Dover. After rinsing it on the surface, the familiar Guinness branding became clear. The bottle dates to 1864.

Scientists at KU Leuven University in Belgium are now analyzing samples from the beer. Researchers hope DNA recovered from the liquid could allow them to recreate the original 1860s recipe as closely as possible.

The bottle may even still be drinkable after more than 160 years underwater, though the main goal is scientific and historical.

Divers believe more bottles from the same shipment remain buried at the site.

🌬️ Another windy week on the sandbar! 🌊

We managed to sneak in a couple of solid days sinking cages despite the chop, gusts, and cool water. 💪🦪

Next week we’re looking forward to calmer seas so we can finish the season strong, before the snow flies. ❄️

Octopuses are the best dive buddy ❤️

The helping octopus. An octopus was first spotted off the coast of Portugal, hovering near a diver as he worked on underwater repairs. At first, the diver thought nothing of it, until the octopus started helping.

Whenever he reached for a wrench, a bolt, or even dropped a tool, a te****le would appear, handing it back to him like a silent assistant from the deep.

No one believed his stories when he surfaced, so he set up cameras and recorded everything. The footage, an octopus calmly passing tools to a human, has since gone viral. When asked about it, the diver just smiled and said: “I’m just happy I had help down there.”
