TRUST THE PROCESS. 🥊🏋️♂️
National and Provincial Muay Thai Champion Simon Bonello putting in the work with Olympic lifting.
For fighters, Olympic lifts can help develop explosive power, speed, coordination, athleticism, and the ability to produce force quickly — qualities that transfer well to striking and overall performance.
But Olympic lifting is highly technical. The goal isn’t just to throw heavy weight around. Proper coaching, progression, and technique matter if you want the benefits without unnecessary risk.
Build the movement. Build the strength. Build the athlete.
Trust the process.
Why Olympic Lifts Matter for Athletes 🏋️♂️⚡🥊
Olympic lifts like the clean, sn**ch, and their variations are powerful tools for developing athleticism because they train the body to produce force quickly.
For athletes and combat athletes, that translates well to movements that require explosiveness—punching, kicking, changing levels, shooting, jumping, sprinting, clinching, and rapidly changing direction.
Benefits include:
Improved explosive power
Greater rate of force development
Better coordination and timing
Stronger hips and posterior chain
Improved balance and body control
Better ability to transfer force from the ground through the entire body
Increased athleticism without relying only on slow strength work
Strength is important. The ability to express that strength quickly is what makes it athletic.
Consistency is what transforms people.
Kelly started with the weightlifting team less than a year ago. She has shown tremendous progress.
Results don’t come from one great workout — they come from showing up, trusting the process, and putting in the work week after week. Add in expert coaching, and that consistency turns into real progress.
At our gym, we believe that the right guidance matters. Good coaching helps you move better, train smarter, stay accountable, and keep progressing safely and effectively.
We’re proud to have Nik Varbanov leading our weightlifting and Youth strength program. Nik is a 9x National Weightlifting Champion and the son of legendary weightlifter Alexander Varbanov. His experience, knowledge, and passion for the sport help athletes of all levels build strength, confidence, and proper technique.
Consistency + expert coaching = results.
Keep showing up. The progress will come.
