A little look back at Week 5 of EmpowHerFit đź’ś

This week, we welcomed HAGO (Help A Girl Out) to lead a workshop on body confidence and periods.

The girls had the opportunity to learn, ask questions, explore social norms and stereotypes, and have open conversations about their bodies and periods.

We’re grateful to have been able to bring this experience into EmpowHerFit and give the girls another opportunity to learn from an organization doing important work in this space.

Thank you to HAGO for spending the day with our girls! đź’ś

HAGO’s current funding runs through March 2027, and they’re looking for community support to help spread the word and keep this work going.

Please follow, share, and help amplify Help A Girl Out ™ work. Every bit of visibility helps.

EmpowHerFit | Week 5 đź’ś | Body Confidence

This week looked a little different!

Alongside our regular movement sessions, we welcomed Help A Girl Out ™ for a workshop on body confidence and periods.

The girls had conversations about the social norms and messages we see around our bodies, explored some of the stereotypes we’re taught, and had a chance to challenge them.

We also talked about periods and the importance of not letting them hold us back—especially when it comes to being active, playing sports, and simply feeling comfortable in our own bodies.

And of course, there was plenty of movement, laughs, and teamwork along the way. đź’ś

A big thank you to HAGO for joining us and creating space for these conversations!

HAGO is doing important work to help girls and women access period products and education. Their current funding runs through March 2027, and they’re working to build awareness and community support to keep this work going.

If you believe in this work, please follow Help A Girl Out ™ share their work, and help spread the word. Every bit of visibility helps. 💜

EmpowHerFit | Week 4 đź’ś | Mental Wellness

Creating space for conversation, check-ins, and activities that allowed the girls to reflect at their own pace.

We started with movement, pushed ourselves through some intense exercises, and then practiced using our breath to slow things down and reset.

From there, we explored different ways to cope when things feel like a lot. The girls created their own coping toolkit using stress balls and privately wrote down something they wanted to leave behind. We then used water as a symbolic way to release it.

No sharing. No explaining. Just a moment to acknowledge it, let it go, and move forward.

Lots of movement, conversation, reflection, and connection. đź’ś

EmpowHerFit | Week 3 đź’ś | Overcoming Obstacles & Resilience

This week, we explored what resilience looks like.

Through workouts, teamwork, and meaningful conversations, we talked about something we all experience—setbacks. Instead of seeing them as the end of the story, we learned how to respond by creating our own bounce-back plan using the 3 R’s.

Every session reminds us that growth doesn’t just happen through movement. Sometimes it happens through a conversation, a challenge, or taking a moment to reflect on how we’ll respond the next time life doesn’t go as planned.

Some moments deserve a pause.

This week, our EmpowHerFit theme was resilience. As I reflected after the session, I was reminded that resilience isn’t just something we ask the girls to practice—it’s something we, as leaders, have to live every day.

Building Womxn Ball has required faith, patience, and perseverance. There are challenges people don’t always see, but there are also moments that remind me exactly why this work matters.

This is one of those moments.

Jah Jah Blessings. 🤍💜

From player to mentor—meet Ray Williams. 🏀✨

Womxn in the Game: Beyond the Game—our monthly spotlight highlighting women creating impact in sports beyond play.

As the Lead Assistant Coach for the University of Guelph Women’s Basketball team, Ray believes in developing the person before the player. Through empathy, leadership, and purpose, she’s helping athletes build confidence that extends far beyond the court.

Her journey is a reminder that the greatest impact in sport isn’t just measured by wins—it’s measured by the lives we help shape.

EmpowHerFit | Week 2 đź’ś | Building Confidence

Confidence isn’t something you’re born with—it’s something you build.

Last week, we challenged ourselves to step outside our comfort zones, move with purpose, encourage one another, and reflect on the way we speak to ourselves.

Through movement, some difficult conversation, and affirmations, the girls explored what confidence looks like beyond the class.

Week 2 is complete, and we’re excited to keep growing together.

➡️ Next up: Resilience.

EmpowHerFit | Week 1 đź’ś | Setting Intentions & Goals

Every strong community starts with a foundation.

Before we focused on workouts, we focused on something even more important: creating a space where every participant feels safe, supported, and comfortable showing up as themselves.

This week, we:
đź’ś Got to know one another.
🎯 Set intentions and SMART goals.
đź“– Reflected on where we are and where we want to grow.
📏 Established our personal starting points.
🤝 Began building a community rooted in trust, respect, and encouragement.

Over the next eight weeks, we’ll build strength, confidence, resilience, and leadership—but first, we built the foundation.

Here’s to Week 1.
