Honing skate blades is a process that has many variables with a broad range of results.
A great sharpening is easily diminished due to a improper technique and/or tools. Everyone has their own method.
Do you use flat or teardrop?
What grit do you prefer?
Oil on stone?
Stone or diamond grit?
Wipe with leather before hone?
Rubber stone for black steel?
And finally how do you check your work to ensure uniformity of edge?
